Hello all,

As some of you know, I am an animator. As some of you also know, I take forever to finish anything. This is why I thought it would be fun to make an open animation project with the forum.

Here's basically how it works: A bunch of people sign up to help with animation, design, drawing, and then we get together to decide what the heck we want to do.

After coming up with some kinda story idea or something, we make a list of everything we need, and anyone who wants to help can make whatever they are best at helping with. Then everything is compiled, editted, then picked apart again to redo everything that needs to be redone.

Note: We currently do not need story writers, or anything like that. If we need someone to pitch any ideas or something, we'll ask for one later.

Needed (May change over time, so pay attention):
Animators
BG artists
Voice actors (Quality microphone is a must if you want to be in the final cut, but if your sound quality sucks, you can still make dummy tracks for lip-syncing.)
Character/object designers
[s]Project coordinator[/s] FULL
Any 3d modellers who can model objects for design purposes are also encouraged to join.

And one important note, that you will eventually hate, but will still have to deal with: I am the director. Why? I started the thread, and as everyone knows, everything needs a director. If you want to be a director, start your own thread. This means that I have the final say on any changes in art style (To keep everything consistent), content (Let's try to keep it G to PG, so all forumers can watch).

Target: 1x 5-15 minute 2d animated short. I think using adobe flash for the final product would be best, due to it's popularity, so it would make collaboration easier. Also, we are going to be making an account on a filesharing site for us all to use.

And if anyone here has experience with 3d, and think a 3d short would be worthwhile, say so.

Now, who's interested? Please dont pitch any ideas for anything at all before we have all positions filled. Post your setup: Your programs, your equipment, and your experience.

I think I might wanna be animator, just 'cause. You have seen my work in this thread. I can do better, though.

I thought about this with a cartoon of my own, but it never really got anywhere because of boredom and time constraints.

For my scrapped/hiatus cartoon, I made symbols for both Ace and Teff, their facial expressions, and a few other things. So I can be a character designer if you want. I also have a microphone that's pretty good (though it suffers from picking up a bit of background noise), so a voice actor is also a possibility for me. :)

However, I do not have the time to animate, or the time/ability to design backgrounds/some objects (I'm pretty poor in this field). I cannot guarantee that my items will be completed quickly, as well (I will try to finish them as soon as possible though).

I have some story ideas/jokes, but I see that those aren't required at the time.

EDIT: Here are my symbols:

All of the ones that I've made.

A practice clip I made of Ace standing still, walking, and running. The disappearing eye thing is up to you all to do, since I'm too lazy to fix crap like that. :P

Is it possible to have a piece of forum artwork that doesn't involve Ace or Teff?

In short: no. :P

They are pretty much the default people of the forum because everybody else uses them and it gives you the general idea of what they look like. These symbols were also based off old sprites I had made over a year ago, when Ace and Teff things were even more popular.

I could do Character Designs, Voice Acting (I'll give you an example of both in a minnit), and maybe eventually animator.

I also have some pretty nice sound effects that you can use.

Here is my voice test thing. Just a demo of what voices my program has. A sample, if you will - there are plenty more effects in there. Just stop it after the music fades out.

I'm so retarded.

Dont worry about that. We arent in much of a hurry. Like I have mentioned before (in other threads), all flash work is just my side work, which often makes it take a long time anyway. There arent really any deadlines.

And einoo, we can definitely use your abilities. I think that as we progress with animation later in the project, finished or semi-finished animation parts will be given to you to add music to. Then you can either add the music and sound effects yourself, or post the necessary files, with directions.

Right now, our main concern is to build a huge flash object library to use with animation. Any useful files should be added to the project's mediafire account. It's mediafire.com. Sign in using the email address 'bcj153@aol.com', and the password 'hrwiki'.

Also, can everyone please just let me know what program they have and can use for this, so I know who I can ask to do what?

I have [s]Macromedia[/s] Adobe flash 8 pro, blender 3d, Macromedia Fireworks 8, Cakewalk music creator 4, and a bunch of others.
I think I have toonboom (Used to make the simpsons) installed on my other hard drive, which I have been looking for forever, so if anyone is more comfortable with toonboom, let me know.

Also, blender can read many popular 3d modelling filetypes, including maya, lightwave, and milkshape, so if anyone wants to do any 3d animation, and only has those programs, it wont be a problem.

I am currently toying with the idea of integrating 3d animation with cel-shading, like in the simpsons movie, futurama, zim, and bonus stage.

I've got Flash CS3. But I can save stuff as Flash 8 stuff, so it's all good for that.

I can do some pretty crappy animation in Flash.

I could also do backgrounds in InkScape.

Well, I am considering updating as soon as I get my new computer, but I know some other forumers have 8, so we might as well save as 8 anyway.

Also, nice voices. At present time, I have no script. I figured that we would eventually toss ideas around once we get the ball rolling. At present time, I figured we could just work on a flash object library. The nice thing about symbol library making, is you can set story writing aside while still getting stuff done.

Excellent. Also, quality wont be too much of a problem. If anything is crappy, it's quality can easily be fixed, since all files will be available.

I can voice act. Douglas was planning on using my voice in Cartoon'd, but then he canceled his series. Image

My microphone is nothing particularly special, but I do know how to build a wind screen, so the quality is not bad. I also edit my voice clips a little in Audacity for various quality enhancing reasons, if necessary. I'll post some voice clips tomorrow, if Putfile will stop disagreeing with me.

I'd like to be considered for animating.

Here's a short I did:
http://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... iffkh9.swf

I can animate characters with more joints (I can supply a demo if you want).

Here's a frame by frame demo I did:

A few of you might remember me talking about some of my older flash projects I never got around to finishing (Like super smash: forum edition). If anyone remembers the one about those kids that crashland an airplane in the canadian wilderness, well, this is it.

I rewrote the entire story. I kept some of the episodes I described to some of you. All characters meet up with Alberto in the wilderness (Except he's a USSR Spy from the cold war, who hasnt been informed that the cold war has ended), and they all have an interesting run-in with a maximum security prison.

I still havent finished any scripts, but I do have a bunch of episode outlines done. I'll post them soon, and all actively working on the project can help rewrite them to make them funnier.

In the meantime, more work on flash. I'll post the revamped ace and teff later, based on disk's model.

BTW: Any forum members who want to make cameo appearances can do so, but not all characters will be recurring characters. 450 main characters would be ridiculous (Unless it's pokemon).

Also, sorry for not updating much. I work too much. I'll have more time when I go back to school.

I've heard this plot before...it was some movie or something...

But in any case, I love it and can't wait for more.

Perhaps alberto told it to you? He seemed pretty excited when I told him it.

Also, the overall plot summary seems somewhat like hatchet, but is in reality nothing like it. It's more like "If the futurama writing cast wrote gary paulsen's Hatchet, with a crazy russian chasing them, a broken compass making them go the wrong direction, and an escaped inmate (I never decided whether to make them hardened criminals, or just insane) accidentally handcuffed to one of them.

Also, a mime.

I read Hatchet. A sequel could be done called Alberto's Winter or something.

That would actually fit in quite well with the ending I originally wrote for the series.
