So yeah.

You remember this, right?

We were working on that one song.

I am too lazy to upload all of the tracks on it right now (or maybe ever), but here are some tracks with minor adjustments:

Inverse's vocal track with the annoying background noise removed. Sounds a bit tinny but that can be disguised with all the other instruments and such.

Just like the first one but with fairly heavy reverb throughout. Mix-'n'-match with the first one as you please.

Putin's guitar track, except with some flange action for the very last bit.

Also, I am working on a cover of The Beatles' "I'm Only Sleeping". Know it's already been covered, but when I looked it up on YouTube, the cover sounded pretty much exactly like the original except not quite as good. As is typically the case when cover-ing happens, unfortunately. So I disregarded that one.

Here is my very very VERY temp track for it: Clicky.

I think I'm probably gonna see if I can do a version of it all by myself, but if you guys have anything to offer, that'll be good. Make sure it adheres to the tempo (and key, hopefully!) in that temp track. I'll upload the guide as to what chords it is later.

So yeah.

I disown that vocal track :P

But I have been trying to get more time for learning music again lately. If anyone wants to put together another song, that'd be cool. I won't sing, I promise :D

On the first temp track I posted up there, enough of the chords are wrong to make it... not a very good temp track.

So here's a better one.

I made quite a few legal double posts in the previous version of this thread and it looks like I'm carrying on that tradition in this one.

Here are two tracks for the I'm Only Sleeping cover. One of them is definitely temporary, but the other could actually end up on the final track (although maybe not serving the purpose originally intended).

The latter is my attempt at making a bass track when I do not have a bass.

Here it am.

It is not a key-bass dealie. It is, rather, me playing a kazoo, then lowering the pitch of what came out of that by one octave. It sorta kinda works as a bass track, but again, sorta doesn't. However, even if it does not end up being the final bass track, it might be on the finished cover anyway. There's something very intriguing about it. Inverse said it sorta almost even sounded like a saxophone.

The former is my attempt at making a guitar track when I do not know how to play the guitar.

Here it am.

It's not very... It's sort of... Well... It's BAD. All I had available was a crappy kids' guitar. And since I don't know how to play the guitar, I had to set it so that when you strum it and don't put any fingers on the (TECHNICAL TERM ALERT!!!) long part of the guitar it makes a chord. Then I would slide around on the "long part" with something circular-bottleneckish in shape. Of course, there are both Major and minor chords in the song, so I had to do two seperate tracks, plus one extra bonus one where it does a Major 7th chord. It sounds, to be honest, really bad. It starts out terrible, and although it gets better over time, it only ever reaches the point of "almost mediocre." Definitely a temporary track until I can get someone who knows what the crap they're doing to lay something down.

Hey, sorry for the insane megabump, but I just recorded a new track to that old song that Putin started working on in the Dark Ages or earlier. It's an organ track for the very last verse. I noticed the song was kinda quasi-religious already so I just went with it and it turned out pretty OK. It's slightly quiet, but I think it might be better that way.

Here it is.

I could give you a bassline. It might be a little repetitive, but it would sound good.

You'd have to rip the audio from a video, though. My recording equipment sucks.

That organ track: I like the trebly quality it has. It reminds me of vegas shotgun wedding chapels (which fits the white trash love story undertones of the album the song is from) and old lucasarts games for some reason (which is never a bad association). Also, you can almost never go wrong with organ anyway.

Maybe I'll get back on this again someday... I'm more interested in a different song off this album now tho. And I'm never happy with anything I do for either song.

Well, I'll have it posted in a minute. I checked the tempo about 5 times, re-recorded about 3 times, and I still don't know if it's long enough or not.

It's such an easy bassline it's almost embarrassing.

No problem. I'm sure it'll be good. It'll certainly be better than a pitched-down kazoo.

Whoa. It's way short. Unless you can work around it being 50 seconds long, I may have to re-record it.

Huh, that's a bit strange. I think you probably will have to make it longer... You might want to use the track I made as reference.

Unless you were already. Then I dunno what happened.

But could I have the recording anyway?

GOD! I'M HAVING SO MANY FREAKING DIFFICULTIES HERE!

My recoring equipment wasn't compatible with my FREAKIN' computer, or any other electronic in my house. After all the work I did to record it, you're gonna have to find someone else. But I did use the track as a reference, and simply don't know what happened.

I have this video of me playing the same bassline, I'll post it to show it off, but it won't help you. Especially because it's also too short. Plus I made a few mistakes.

Hay guise, I made a mixdown of the 3 separate tracks. I or someone else can put in the bass track whenever it's ready.

EDIT:
Here's the same thing with both vocal tracks and the vocals a little bit higher in the mix. Also, the different vocal tracks are panned out a little bit. It sounds cool if you listen to it with headphones.

Do you think you could rip the bass from the video, Iand?

Naw, I don't know how.

EDIT: What's the tempo? I can make a drum track.

Everything's based on the original guitar track, and I'm not sure if Putin used a click or clap track to keep the tempo straight through the whole thing. So I dunno that it HAS a tempo. I think that's one reason I got frustrated with this.

Yeah, I had to come up with at least 4 different basslines to match the tempo, yet I have to make another one now. I was 2 beats too fast. It's frustrating beyond reason.

Ok, I got the audio from the bassline video. Someone could mess with it or loop it or something I guess.

Wait, wait, I'm confused here. What song was Abu doing a bassline for?

'Cuz for that song with Inverse's vocals... It kind of already has a bass track. It was deleted in the Purge, but I was still using it in my mix. I thought Abu was talking about the other song I've been working on.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

I'll have to post that and I'll also have to post another track that I made that got deleted in the Purge.

What chords are Putin playing? And in what order? Does he have it written down?

It closely follows the tempo of Inverse's vocal track.

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/n/n ... oy_crd.htm

There might be a couple errors in that, since it's one of those dime a dozen tab sites, but it's pretty close.

Hey.
Uploaded a new, jazzy-type song to my myspace page. It's called Jazzken, cos I couldn't think of a name.

Tell me what you think!
