Holy mackerel.
Did you put the camera as close to the amp as you could?
The amp isn't really distorting like that, is it? If it is, get it serviced, quick.

Ugh. That's seriously what I sounded like when I first started playing and tried to use guitar overdrive.
Well it would've been a fairly awesome fuzz bass tone if that was what you were going for.

The thing I don't like about it is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of sustain. It sounds like some kind of synth tone you'd hear in a death metal-pop song.

It wasn't, but we could make it that way.

Yes. Why do you think the whole video is a red glare?

Suggestion: put the camera at a little bit of a distance, and if you have to, just turn your amp up.

We have one, but it's a quarter inch and therefore can't be put on the computer.
I have an eighth inch attachment, but Audacity doesn't take it.

Huh. Have you gone into the prefs area? That microphone may not have been selected when you tried it.

Use the Windows sound recorder. Then open with Audacity and do whatever you want with it.

Here's a little something I did, I know it's pretty awful but I get stage fright when I record.

Well, thats what $35 distortion gets you, I guess.
I think I should explain why the solo has all the clicking.
I dropped my pick right before it started so I had to do all the alternate picking with my finger, which kinda ruined it.
It was also originally recorded with a bit of reverb, but I dropped it.

legal double post ftw
Here's yet another very poor solo.
I screwed up on the alternate picking again.

I'm sorry, but both of those sounded like a series of random notes. They just didn't go together

That would be because they are improvised.
There are a million worse things about it than that.
But yeah, I'll try to get it more musical next time, this was really more of a software test than a musical endeavor.

So I tried to make up a song on the spot.
I think the main riff and chorus came out sounding okay because I sort of had an idea of what I was going to do but the bridge was completely improvised so it's kinda terrible.

I just made this up.
By tomorrow, I want a full song.

Here is what came out of me based on IJ's lyrics. I dunno if it's any good, but it's certainly very different from iand's take on the subject. Starting with the fact that it's a full song, at least sort of.

Cool. Way better than mine. But that's mostly cause I spent like 5 minutes total on it.

So, it turns out that my drum skills + my friend's complete unimaginativity + bad quality = kind of OK. It's only a minute long 'cause of dumb old sndrec32

Besides, I was at my friend's doing this--like i said, I can't record well here.
BTW, the recycling-bin thing works.

Well if I can get some kind of basic idea of how to do rhythm guitar, then I'll throw in some help, but I just can't hear any.
