I've had yet another idea for a Homestar DVD. It's similar in concept to SBEmails' 50 Greatest Hits, but in this case, it focuses on the non-SBEmail content. It would actually be a Greatest Hits DVD of the Everything Else set, including the yet-to-be-released Vol. 4. And any toons from the past DVDs that have not gotten commentaries (as on the SBEmail DVD) would do so now. What does anyone think of this idea? What should be included in here?

First Time Here. "I'm Homestar and THIS IS A WEBSITE!"
Ballad of the Sneak "It's the Sneak! It's the Sneak!"
Date Nite "Explain to me how drowning them wouldn't ruin their date"

I also wonder what holiday toons should be included.

Happy DeTHemberween for sure.

I think several toons that "introduced" characters, universes, serieses, etc. should be featured as well, including:

  • Kick the Can (Old-Timey)
  • Drive-Thru (Blubb-O's Whale)
  • Meet Marshie (Marshie)
  • Cheat Commandos (Cheat Commandos)
  • The Cheat Theme Song (Powered By The Cheat)
  • Peasant's Quest Preview (Peasant's Quest, maybe use that as a bonus)

Based, therefore, on what we would like to see, here's the content thus far:

Toons
Date Nite

Shorts
Kick the Can
Meet Marshie
Ballad of The Sneak
Cheat Commandos
Drive-Thru

Holidays
Happy Dethemberween

Other Features
The Cheat Theme Song

Bonus
First Time Here?
Peasant's Quest Preview

I also wonder what Halloween and TGS toons should be included, too. It should have at least three or four of each.

Maybe they could either let people vote which 'toons to include, or let individuals select which 'toons he or she would like to own on a burn-on-demand disc.

I kinda did do something like that, by having polls of favorite toons and pick and choose the contents based on them.

If it contains 50 videos, like Sbemails' 50 Greatest Hits, here's what I'd like to see:
  • The five most popular Big Toons
  • The five most popular shorts
  • The five most popular music videos (a bit of PBTC included, hopefully)
  • The five most popular Halloween specials
  • The five most popular Decemberween specials
  • The five most popular specials from miscellaneous holidays
  • The five most popular "Cheat Commandos" episodes
  • The five most popular Answering Machines
  • The five most popular "Teen Girl Squad" issues
  • The five most popular "Puppet Stuff" episodes
However, that format might require two discs.

EDIT: Some time after writing this post, I started thinking about taking my top five in each category and sticking them on my theme park DVD. I think I need your permission for use of the "Everything Else Greatest Hits" concept though. Permission granted?

Granted. I'd especially like to see the five Big Toons and Halloween specials.

I started collecting Blu-Ray Discs this year, so I'd like to tweak and embellish my Fanstuff idea:
  • The Blu-Ray version is now a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, with a standard Blu-Ray case. Everything that appears on the left interior of the DVD case is included on a sheet of paper, and random pictures can be seen underneath the BD's tray.
  • When you push "Pop Up Menu" on your remote, a list containing links to the section's menu and other toons, resembling the navbar from "A Jorb Well Done" and "Where's the Cheat?" appears on the bottom of the screen.
  • (This will substitute the "push angle to find Easter Eggs" feature of the DVDs) After you select a toon from a menu, a "branch" will appear, asking if you want to watch with the Easter Eggs on or off. If you select on, a red, yellow, blue, or green border (yellow most of the time) will appear over certain objects as the toon plays, prompting you to push the remote button with the corresponding color.
  • Occasionally, additional "branches" would ask you if you want to turn Homsar on or off.
  • The comparison between the books and toons of "Strongest Man in the World" and "Where My Hat is At" are picture in picture instead of split screen.
  • If "Xeriouxly Forxe" truly is the last Homestar Runner cartoon, then it will be included in the "Bonus" section.
  • A BD-Live feature allows streaming of six bonus features from the "Everything Else" DVDs: "Exaggerations," "From the Vault," "Bubslegum Comics," "Halloween Awards Show," "Why Come Only One Girl," and "The Limozeen Advantage." This section would probably have a generic h*r background as opposed to a theme park-themed one; I've yet to access a BD-Live network with animated backdrops.

Some more changes I thought of for the Blu-Ray:
  • The menu cycles through all the attractions and has the toons' links written on tickets that branch off of the old navbar I said earlier. The transition to a new attraction features Cheerleader in a fairy costume flying in and tapping the background with a wand while saying, "ding!"
  • The Haunted Mansion-esque attraction has music randomly selected between the Goblin remix and "Happy Dethemberween".
  • In the Space Mountain-type background, one rocket from each of the included series flies past. Next, two randomly selected rockets featuring other characters from those series appear. Finally, one of those rockets flies past again, but explodes in midair.
  • Everything listed as an Easter Egg can be found on the Blu-Ray by scrolling all the way to the end of the respective list.
  • "A Decemberween Mackerel" and "Which Ween Costumes?" are now included, though I don't know which order the lines of "Which Ween Costumes?" should play in.

Also, I feel like making these changes to the Homestar History Montage:
2009:Hremail 2000

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {as the shoe-puppet} Tra-la-la! I'm a lonely Swiss miss lost in a chanted forest!

{Another leg appears. This one also has googly eyes, but a small purple wizard cap and drawn-on eyebrows and a mustache.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {as the second shoe-puppet} Yes! And now you will toil away in my toil-et mines! While I get all the kickbacks! {as the first puppet} Oh no! Who will save me?

{A third leg appears. This one has the googly eyes on the sole, rather than the foot, and has a blonde "wig" on it. Marzipan sits up, startled.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {as the third puppet} I'll save you!

{Marzipan gasps loudly.}

2010: A Decemberween Mackerel

STRONG BAD: ...everybody knows the way to save Senor Cardgage is to cut a bunch of motor sports magazines in half and pour gravy on a defibrillator. A-like so.

{Cut Strong Mad with magazines that read "Modasports. The 2011 Tomatocycle!!!! Daaaang!" The Cheat is standing next to a defibrillator and a gravy boat. Strong Mad grunts and pulls the magazines apart. The Cheat then takes the gravy boat and pours the gravy on the defibrillator. Music plays and the silhouette of Cardgage can be seen rising.}

{Cut to a shot of Cardgage with rays behind him, standing tall.}

SENOR CARDGAGE: Oh, my grabness, grabness. It really is...

{Cut to a shot of all standing around the tree. Strong Sad is still in his tub, next to The King of Town and Strong Mad. The Poopsmith is standing behind Bubs screen left.}

ALL: A Decemberween mackerel!
