I have VisualBoyAdvance.

Where should I put the ROM? Does it matter?

And I just have no idea at all where to put or how to download the translation patch.

simplified steps plz.

1. Open Visualboy
2. File>Open
3. Select the rom
4. Instant profit

Oh yeah you're going to want to set options>Joypad if you want to set controls. And from my understanding, if you save In-game, it saves the data to the Rom as if it were a game cart. The data will be there when you boot the game up next, just like a cart.

Or you can go file>save game. When you load that save file, it will place you EXACTLY where you saved. A lot more conveinent, also makes getting through hard parts a lot less tedious.

How do I use the patch?
You will need a PPF patch program. You can download the PC Version of PPF-O-Matic here. If you're on a Mac, try Gumby. If you're using Linux or if neither of those work for you, look or here for some other versions of PPF-O-Matic.

(If anyone has suggestions for better/other PPF patch programs, please let us know!)

Note that it's VERY important that you keep a backup of the original, clean ROM! When the full patch comes out, you're going to need to apply it to a clean ROM, so make sure you always have a backup of the original ROM lying around.

Anyway, if you're using PPF-O-Matic, where it says ISO File, click the disk icon and then select the MOTHER 3 ROM. Where it says Patch, click the disk icon and select the menu patch file. Now hit the Apply button and you should be all set. The ROM should be patched now. It is now ready to be played.

roflcopters.

Anyway, yeah, you can figure it out before too long. The character reaches Truly Evil status while you're in Fourside, which is around the game's midpoint, and shows definite signs before then.

Neither the patch or the ROM are in the folder when I open it in PPF-O-MATIC.

If its for famicon (or however the Japanese NES was spelled), will a nes emulator work? Also, a gba one would work with the combined mother 1/2 remake.
