You I expected to get the ignorant post from.

Anyone think the guy I share a last name with will decide to race the full season after getting 2 top 5's in a row?

Is there a chance that Martin's success is because his team isn't worried about "big picture" racing where you give up things for fear of doing something where you lose a bunch of points by crashing out? (It's a similar theory as to why guys that aren't in the "Chase" sometimes dominate it, like Stewart did last year).

If so, then let's hope they run a full season without telling him they're going to do so. (I'm sure Stu disagrees).

Also, I think they need to check Jack Roush to make sure he didn't fire the shot that flattened Burton's tire at the end of the race.
Jack's got a gun...

Is it just me or are they over doing the David Reutimann crash? Now granted it was a bad accident, but I have seen worse, much worse. Micheal Waltrip brings one to mind.

Well, Reutimann did get knocked out (in by hitting a "safer barrier"). Just imagine what might have happened had he hit ye olde concrete barrier.

No, he wasn't knocked out. he got knocked stupid, but not out.

Are you sure? It looks like he lost consciousness for a couple seconds before coming back severely confused (not something you want to happen in a burning car).

What did you think of Montoya's win last week? I thought it was good for NASCAR. His methods of winning were questionable(not to me), but I think his win will help cement NASCAR in Latin America.

We have Las Vegas this week. Bruton Smith has remodeled LVS into another Cookie Cutter track. I liked Vegas when it was flat. It made it different than the other 1.5 mile tracks.

I liked Montoya's win. Personally, I don't see what the fuss was about. It COULD have been intentional, but I seriously doubt that it was. Montoya's used to racing cars that fly apart if you look at them the wrong way, so I doubt he'd ram someone. If anything, I'd say it was a case of "he didn't hit his brakes soon enough and got into the back of him".

I hate the "1.5 Mile, D-shaped oval"... Seriously, it's like NASCAR wants every track to be the same.

I liked that track in Mexico. I think NASCAR needs more of those road courses (they should race in Montreal, too) maybe some more bull rings like Bristol, too. I'd even add another Pocono type track and take racing back to Darlington.

They are racing in Montreal this year. It's the week before Watkins Glen. So you have back-to-back road courses on the Busch Schedule.

I want to go to the Glen this year. I went when I was 6 and had a blast. My parents found this rock on the infield between turns one and two. I got to see all the cars up close. I was really pumped when I saw Ricky Rudd's #5 Tide Ride go by.

So... After 3, Martin is still the points leader.
He's got one more race left (he says Atlanta will be his last until Daytona in July).

Anyone else think that he's gonna suit up at Bristol?

If NASCAR was always like it was in Talladega Nights, I would watch it all the time.

I'd like to see it more like Days of Thunder (only with less Tom Cruise).

That movie was great. It was like 200 mph bumper cars.

I saw that movie, it was a really good one too. Yes, less Tom Cruise would have been nice, but the movie was great.

As for Talladega Nights, it never even looked funny too me, or a good movie at all.

Now, back on topic a little. Who here likes the new Las Vegas?

Oh, it's hilarious. It makes fun of NASCAR and race fans, but if you can take a joke, you'll laugh so hard that you'll have a hard time breathing.

Not me.

Like BTG, I hate the idea of "cookie-cutter tracks".
The phrase "1.5 mile D Oval" makes me want to puke.

Here's an idea, NASCAR, give us some originality in track design. Pocono is a great example of an oval that's not boring.

Rockingham and Darlington are good ones too.

Yes..
I LOVE Darlington. I'd rank it up there with Watkins Glenn, Bristol, and Talladega as one of my favorite tracks.

Watkins Glen is my favorite for obvious reasons.

My parents went to Las Vegas this last weekend and watched the Busch race (Nextel Cup is too expensive to buy from the scalpers)... my dad said it was the best race he has ever been to.

Personally, I thought it was boring on TV... but I guess it was pretty good live. There's just something about being there that changes everything.

How about that finish in Texas?

I thought Jeff Burton's Sportsmanship was going to cost him the win. I got ticked at him when he was feathering the throttle to keep from hitting Matt in the corners.

And what was up with Dale Jr. getting in to Kyle Busch's car after Kyle had wrecked his?

He takes polite to an annoying level. I mean, taking it easy on lap 50 of a 350 lap race is one thing... Taking it easy on lap 350 is quite different.

Earnhardt used to wreck people, but I never had a problem when it was on the last lap (spin to win)...

Also, how discouraging is it to other drivers that a man that missed 2 races this season is 15th in points?

Finally, anyone catch the Dale Jarret/Ned Jarret UPS ad? That was win.

Ambrose certainly got attention by taking out Montoya, don't ya think? I thought Juan Pablo would be all over him.

I love how Smoke's "wrestling" comments took away from the anger some fans had from Gordon's hoisting of the 3 flag.

Tony's got some legitimate concerns, but I really think he came off as a bit whiny.

NASCAR fans disgust me sometimes, though. Gordon can't win for losing. I'm not sure why people should hate him. Only thing I can figure is that he wins. I mean, Bill Elliott was NASCAR's most popular driver for something like 10 years and he couldn't finish a race.

Even JR said he liked it. Some people just need to grow up or leave. There's nothing wrong with not cheering for someone you don't like, but is it really necessary to throw things on the track? Survey says "no".

That's because the entire State of Georgia was voting for him.

I have to be honest. I only watch NASCAR when there is a huge wreck. Not with injuries or anything, I'm not a masochist, but I just watch the wrecks. Yeah, I know, I'm from Kentucky but I don't like NASCAR.

There's nothing wrong with that. Well, ok, so you'll make the "open-minded" people that subscribe to the "Kentuckians are all backwoods, inbred hicks that watch NASCAR when they're not sleeping with their cousins" stereotype mad, but who cares?
Now, if you'd said you don't like basketball...
