Well, we're kind of clogging up RT&I with talk of the Mother series so I thought I'd bring it here.

Still say EarthBound is a good game.

It's an INCREDIBLE game, for it's dialog, interactions, and all that grand stuff.
But it's understandable why people may not like it's simplistic battle system.

Oh heck yes. The music that plays when you fight Giygas and Pokey is incredibly epic.

The only thing Boney is good for is using Healing Items for when your characters lose oh shi- amounts of health.

I need to finish EarthBound, by the way. I got to pretty near the end, then I was like "oh crap my characters are lower-level than they should be there's no way i'll be able to beat giygas" and gave up. Then I watched the rest on YouTube and realized "oh hey never mind that'll be easy". But I never bothered to finish.

I ought to.

I still say you'll like the game better when you get farther in, Ace, but I have to admit I can see where you're coming from.

My opinion is that it is the best final boss music ever.

I haven't played Mother 3 yet, except for a couple of minutes in an emulator and not really doing anything, just to get an idea of it. I'm not sure when I'll play it, exactly... either when I learn enough Japanese or when the translation is complete (the latter will definitely happen first). Probably what I'll end up doing is play through it in English and then play through it again later in Japanese...

Earthbound is better if you haven't played Mother 3 first. You have to play them in order to appreciate their various pros and cons.

Also Ace, add me on Brawl or whatever. My code is in the codes thread.

I say Mother 1 wins in the music category.
The solo overworld theme is awesome
So was the party overworld theme
And the eight melodies meant something

In other news, giegue from EB0 and Giygas from EB are the same people. in MOTHER and MOTHER2 they are both referred to as "gyiyig".

Oh, also: anyone tried PK HACK (http://starmen.net/pkhack/) yet? it's a romhacking tool made specifically for EarthBound/MOTHER2. the Map editor sucks, though.

I already have the ROM downloaded, and I'm getting one of those flash cards that let you play ROMs on a DS, so I'll be able to actually take it with me, JUST AS GOD INTENDED.
