It's just those stupid rings of death. I can never dodge all three of them, it's impossible. The only reason I beat Boss Battles was because they miraculously didn't kill me.

Long and short of it: Tiers do exist. It's impossible to have a perfectly balanced game. They rank character based on how easy it is to master them. Just because a character is bottom tier doesn't mean you can't win with him. You just need to practice more with them than people who chose the easy way. [Story about how so-and-so was the leading player in some fighting game using a bottom tier character].

Of course skill level matters more, but I'm pretty sure the "official" tiers everyone talks about assume that:

A. You and your opponent are at equal skill level
B. You and your opponent are both really, really good. Tournament-winning good.

It's definitely true that a superior player could use Bowser to beat Fox, but really when it comes to tiers it isn't relevant at all. Fox has a much higher skill capacity, so if they both keep practicing and improving eventually the Fox will start to win out simply because Bowser won't be able to keep up. But of course with tiers, this only applies to equal tournament-level skill. Also since there have been so few Brawl tournaments, there are no tiers for it yet.

They both got nerfed in Brawl. Jiggy got nerfed more though. I used to be able to win a lot with her but I can't anymore.

You're back! Get battling JeRM so we can move forward in the tournament. It's almost over!

Also I stand by my Sonic sucking statement, even in just the context as a fighter in the game. Sure he's fast and a lot of fun, but his moves have low priority and range and he only has like maybe two finishing moves which get predictable fast. He's okay, but he's not hard to beat with someone like Snake or Meta Knight or Toon Link.

I concur.
Same applies to my Xbox 360.

I've been playing as Meta Knight and Kirby a lot lately. They're quickly becoming my mains. I used to just play as Ike, Captain Falcon, and maybe DeDeDe, but I've added a lot more and I don't play as Captain Falcon as much.

Bowser was intense in Melee.

But I dunno how you're using Jiggy this time around, she was so much better last time. :(

Well I'm certainly not using her as much. Rest is still okay but you have to do it at a pretty high percentage. Rollout is a little better, and Pound is as obnoxious as ever. Spam Pound and her aerials, like before, but with much more focus on staying away from your opponent - you'll need Pound kost of all, since it hits for full damage even if you barely graze the opponent.

You seem to have a strategy that I never did. I was a master of Rest and Rollout so I would just beat my opponents into submission with those. Pound and her up throw was my backup strategy when those two weren't going well. In retrospect I was pretty cheap but it really got the job done.

She just seems a lot slower and harder to maneuver this time around. Rest doesn't kill at such a low percentage which was a big deal for me. Rollout seems awkward for some reason.

One problem Jigglypuff has this time around is that she is completely countered by a competant Meta Knight. It's like... Meta Knight can do all Jigglypuff can do but better. Jigglypuff's stubby little arms and legs don't stand a chance against his sword.

How are you supposed to use Gannondorf?
Everything he does is so freakin' slow...
Oh, sure. If he connects, he gets a lot of 2 or 3 hit knockouts, but you have to connect.
Even Bowser can just get out of his way.

His neutral attack, forward tilt, and down tilt are powerful and pretty fast. His foward B is really good as well, you can do some creative chasing with it, and suicide in midair. His smashes are a bit slow but insanely powerful if you can connect, and he has some good nice aerials. Try using his down air attack off the edge.

Totally. I can not use him no matter how hard I try.

Thats why I use falcon.

1. He is terrible and his franchise needs to be taken out behind the shed and shot before they ruin any more of his legacy

2. I'm a Patriots fan so you never thought I was "cool" anyway. Which reminds me that your location fills me with the burning rage of a thousand suns

Sonic is okay. I can win with him a good amount of the time, unless my opponent is a cheap Thundering Pikachu. He needs precise timing to pull off, because the way you survive with him is basically: runn back and forth and pull of quick A attacks when you pass the opponent.
secret pro Sonic tip: the falling springboard can hit the opponent for a spike. Try it when they're hanging onto the ledge.

Yeah, that's not gonna work this time. if you're close enough to throw, you're close enough to get killed. In brawl, Jiggy should always be in the air and as far away as possible, except when resting.

I don't think he's terrible, but you have a point about the 'ruining the legacy' thing.

Just because you're a Patriots fan doesn't stop the rest of you from being cool. And I forgot that that was still my location. I'm... not going to change it, though.

Anyway, I played my first friend battle today, against ExtremeJon. It was fun, even though he was significantly better than me.
