Monsters Inc? No way! The Incredibles and Toy Story got it beat! But then again, I tend to like the existential quest for identity themes that dominate those two movies.

All of Pixar's movies tend to look the same to me. Cars wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. Too predictable; but what else can you expect from a disney movie?

Actually, Disney has sucked really badly over the past 20 years or so. If it weren't for Pixar, they'd probably be out of business by now. It's no wonder they didn't want Pixar to go independent a few years back.

Oh, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. THAT was great.

It is tough to rank Pixar films. Toy Story 1 is awesome. Toy Story 2 is a bit more awesomer, IMO.

I also love Monsters, Inc. But not as good as the Toy Story movies.

The Incredibles is in my top 5 favorite movies, all time, all genre.

The one problem with that movie I had was the actor for Peter.
He was so wrong... It really put me off... He should have looked more like the Peter in those quite bad ones they made years ago. That guy was much cooler.

...His name was Peter, right?

Oh, and waht I saw recently: X Men, and Cars. Cars was quite good, except I was down the front of the theatre and there were screaming kids everywhere.

X Men wasn't that good... but then, I wasn't paying much attention to the movie.

Okay...*shudders*
I just...saw the original Omen movie. I will never be the same person after seeing that movie. It has wedged out a new level of terror in my psyche. I watched it with my brother, and by the end my heart was beating unnaturally quickly and I was breathing heavily, with the mark on my countenance of a terror which can hardly be conceived.[/teh edgar allen poe]

It's amazing how they made such a terrifying movie without much blood at all. I think it may be the soundtrack. Or the acting. Every actor/actress in that movie is incredible. During the special features, the director talked about how many people died making the movie. In a scene where Damien's car is going past a ticket booth to go to one of those, like, drive-by zoos, in one of the filmings of it, the actor who is the ticket booth guy was attacked by lions. Many other tragedies happened just so this film could be made. As Gregory Peck puts it, "I sincerely believe that Satan did not want this movie to be made." Oh yeah, and that movie made a lot of people convert to Christianity.

Disney has a few stock plots that they use for everything.

1. Total opposites switch places! Let's see what kinda craziness happens!
2. A group of misfits compete in some sports event and win against all odds against a bunch of rich preppy kids.
3. Main character has to go on a long journey, but luckily he meets several helpful friends on the way.

Seriously. 90% of the time it's either it's one of those, or they're too busy defiling a fairy tale to incorporate any of that.

I saw Nacho Libre today. It was pretty freakin' funny. If you think Jack Black is crap (how dare you!) go see this movie and it will change your mind. He was great in this movie.

Well, it's good to hear that Nacho Libre lived up to the hype.

It's not that kids these days don't appreciate the movies. It's that most of the movies that have been coming out lately have been utter crap. Remakes and unoriginality have run rampant, and have caused many to start gravitating towards independent film. I've been watching independent films for years, and there are a lot wonderful independent films. Forigen films are wonderful as well.

I did see X3, and it stood within the canonical summer blow-stuff-up movie. But, that was it. Other than that, absolutely dissapointing.

I saw The Wind that Shakes the Barley last night. Don't know if it's out in the States, but it's basically your very typical Irish film about Our Brave Boys fighting against those nasty aul' Black-and-Tans. That title is very typically Irish anyway.

Aside from the fact that that plot Has Been Done Before, it was a fairly decent film.

I saw Click on Friday.
I thought it was pretty good, it was definitely better than I thought it was going to be. So, I'd give it a B-, probably.
I'm seeing it again tonight.

So I watched Cry-Baby tonight. The '50s story of a (kinda emo) juvinile delinquient and the square (that reforms) that he falls for. Good movie. Nice musical numbers. Love the girl's named Allison.

I used to watch Johnny Depp movies on a semi-regular basis, and it's kind of tapered off lately, so this was nice. With this now, and Pirates 2 coming out -HOLY CRAP- tomorrow (granted, it's 1 AM)... I've got catching up to do.

Yay.

Cry-baby is weird weird weird. I caught the last 20 minutes of it on TV once and had one eyebrow raised the entire time.

That is the most accurate statement of all time. Disney pretty much stopped making good films when Walt died. There are exceptions, but Disney just can't make movies anymore by themselves.
