So when it comes to the actual competition when I'm trying to win, I'm sure the 2 out of 3 set-up will help ballance out the heavy luck somewhat. But this'll probably be the only tournament I compete with you guys in, considering how many compromises and deviations I have to make from the way I enjoy playing competitively so no one starts to fuss. (I'm fine with these kinds of settings in fun rounds, and I hope to have some of those sometime, but in an actual tournament to win... meh. I'll deal with it.)

We are deeply humbled by your willingness to sacrifice your sacred way of tournament play for our fun little competition.

Sorry, I'm just feeling a little bit aggrivated. Like I try having a fun item based tournament and it just keeps falling further and further into the extreme... I can't make any ground towards a ballance between chaos and skill. I'm sure I'll have fun, it's just painful to set up.

Guess I leave you all alone to work out whatever kind of rules and restrictions (or lack thereof) you want and jump in whenever you have all this mess figured out.

Well once we set up the rules for this one it'll probably become standard for the rest of the tournaments we have here so there won't be a headache in the future.

Is there a way to unlock
Quote:
Toon Link, Jigglypuff, and Wolf
without beating SSE?

No need for spoiler box anymore.

You can unlock them all by playing VS Mode Matches (Brawls or Special Brawls), but you have to play a TON of them. Like over 300 or something. It was much easier and/or more fun for me just to beat SSE and find them in the hidden doors than to try and do 1 stock matches and grind.

Wolf's other method is beating Boss Mode with Fox but you have to do something in SSE for that.
Jiggly might also have an event where you can unlock her (think it's 20)
No idea about Toon Link

You can unlock Toon Link by clearing the SSE and then playing through Classic Mode on any difficulty as Link.

So it's just playing that amount of matches? Do you have to fight them?

Yep. They also seem to have a slightly higher difficulty level than your regular opponents when you fight them (then again, I'm playing everything on "easy", so that's expected).

kooke! I missed you! Both on here and in real life.

I've also noticed that unlocking the characters is harder. It took me forever to get Sonic.

I think I'm the only person in the world that thought Great Maze wasn't bad.

You're crazy, I got most characters almost right away. Just play through SSE

I don't really think it's that hard to play a ton of matches, and I prefer doing practice brawls rather than playing through the SSE. Which brings me to my next question: Is there anything that I can only unlock by playing through the SSE?

Stuff that should not have been in Multi-Man Brawl:
-Items that explode. Not fun when you're almost finished and you get blown to kingdom come because of some rogue Bob-omb.
-Starman. Computers usually get them anyway.
-Other characters who can use their special moves. Snake appears. Snake uses grenade. Grenade falls on ground. R.O.B. KOs Snake (along with alloys). R.O.B. doesn't see grenade, walks over to where it is. Grenade explodes. FAILURE.

Boss Mode, I believe.

On the subject of Pokemon Trainer, who I'm working towards making one of my mains, Ivysaur is just as helpful as Squirtle and Charizard because he's pretty neutral and has a little bit of everything. He has some strong attacks (His B attack can rack up 30-40 damage easily) and good range, so he's definately a welcome and worthy part of the trio.

Yeah, I was playing against my brother last night, and I realized that Ivysaur really is pretty good.

And this tourney nonsense: where can I sign up? That is, if it's not too late.

I'm in the middle of the Great Maze now and I can safely say it's the best part of SSE.

In other news, ROB has great aerials and a quite annoying B. I like. :bubs:

The whole SSE has so many simularities to Kirby, expecially Supersta. It's awesome.

The great maze wasn't my favorite part of it, but it was enjoyable enough. I liked having cutscenes though, that part was lacking in those.

After you've done what's required to unlock someone, but then lose in a fight against them, is there a formula for getting them back?

1. If it involves Classic, Boss Rush, etc., do it again.
2. If it involves playing as a character, play as it again.
3. If it involves playing on a stage, play on it again.
4. If it involves SSE, go find them again.

Sup a guys. About what I was talking about a few days ago. Getting my Wii fixed. Fortunately, the nearest Wii fix station is in my city. So fortunately I should be getting it back within the day.

5. If it involves playing enough VS. mode matches, just keep playing and he'll keep coming back after every match until you get him.

You all have got some serious issues if you liked Great Maze. Story line was great in SSE though. You understood the plot...and there was absolutely no dialogue. Beautiful.

Yeah, the storyline was really great. They made the characters so much more dynamic than I'd expect from a video game, it reallyw as rpetty awesome

I'm at the great maze myself, but I haven't found Sonic yet... unless he's in the maze (which would be a really bad move by the developers), I somehow missed him.

(as well as the three other hidden ones, though I didn't expect to find them in the first playthrough)

You get Sonic right before the final boss fight.

EDIT:

Oh god lol

there's one co-op event match where the theme is "Characters with swords"

They threw in Gannondorf
