No need to be sarcastic.

(I actually think after doing a few regular ones we could try a serious, league-type one. But that's an issue for later)

So how are we gonna choose our eight? Maybe we should get a thread going for this and see how many people are interested and narrow it down from there (though 3 brawl threads may be too many)

Well, considering we only have a dozen players here, it isn't that hard to narrow it down.

While I am a little bitter, re-reading that the last sentence it appears that it can be easily interpretted as way more biting than I ment it to be. Oops. I meant "Fun" as another adjective to go along with "serious", not something with heavy emphasis implying the rounds in our tournament aren't going to be fun.

At any rate... you definitely have more than enough people to fill up eight slots, I'm sure that won't be an issue. But finding out who those eight people will be might be a problem, I'm sure there will be excess. ...since I'm guessing finding out who the eight best smashers are would be too much trouble, you should probably set a specific date for claiming a spot and have people come to join on a "first come first serve" basis.

I don't really care what methods you guys use to whittle it down, just make sure you have a ready group of eight by the beginning of April.

ALSO SOME MORE DETAILS:
The tournament will last throughout the day and perhaps the weekend. No specific times, it'll be pretty loose.
It'll be an elimation tournament and pairings will be completely random.
There may be a loser's bracket to give losers a second chance, if we can work that out.
April 5th is okay, right?

Sonic's appearance in brawl is the best thing to happen to him in the last decade

"You're too slow" is the single greatest taunt in the history of mankind.

FACT.

That and: "Come on! Step it up!" Sonic totally busts out a windmill during that taunt. Gotta love it.

But that video is win, haahaa. Does Snake's "sleeper hold" grab really make that snapping sound effect in the game or was that just added into the video?

Yeah, it actually does that sound. It's pretty win.

For the Sonic one, I feel like throwing my Wiimote (or Wavebird) into my television screen when he constantly does it in a fight. As for Dedede, I love it.

Seeing the neck break makes me want to play the MGS games.

No, I don't want to see your doughy face around here until you have played one of the greatest gaming masterpieces in existence.

Does the GameCube one count?

Because I've been interested in Metal Gear since I've seen Snake in action, and since that'd be compatible with the Wii it'd be pretty convenient. Just need to know if its a good enough game to get introduced to the series to, so far I've heard pretty good things about it.

Yeah, the Twin Snakes remake is fine. Basically it's the same game, except with better graphics, with at least one bullet-time sequence forced into every single cutscene for no adequete reason, two tranq guns thrown in for good measure, And the (useless) ability to hang off edges and shoot in first person

The first person shooting sort of made the game feel a bit unbalanced, though. Like the way the level design is you can just pull out your silenced pistol and snipe everything in the area before they can do anything about it.

I've played them before. I think I've played each game except for Snake Eater and the Twin Snakes version.
And my face is more than doughy! Its determined!

Thats a classic melee trick. Totally awsome that they put it back in.

DS: B-Sticking has had some use as many Pikachu players are using it to help them with the QAC (Quick Attack Cancel).

Pikachu is much better than his Melee counterpart, in my opinion. He's probably going to be my main. Maybe.

I'm starting to like Weegee. My friends complain that his up+b is overpowered, but it's actually a little worse then it was in Melee, because if leaves you helpless afterwards even if you hit with it.

Also, I've found his up+b works well in combination with his FS, because it leaves the opponents stunned for several seconds.

I can't unhear the ytmnd "Rob the hot dog!" version, it was the one I heard first. Unfortunately for me it was a little vulgar... but that is what the words are now and no alternate lyrics will change it!

I'll do it for Ted...
