It's pretty obvious that it's fake, looking at the roster it shows. No Captain Falcon? Ness/Lucas? Ice Climbers? Ike? Meta Knight? Diddy Kong? Just a few guys from the website, uncreatively lined up just like they were in Melee, with nothing but static images from the site and the Brawl index style we've already seen. Plus there's very little room for new secret characters, and the four ? slots on hanging off to sides a la clones, which we're all fairly sure that Brawl will lack.

As for as how it's on the TV, it's called getting a regular image onscreen. It's very easy to do with either a digital camera or a Wii, and doesn't add any further credibility to the fake.

Debunking obvious Smash Bros fakes since '06

Well, just to be a bit of a devil's advocate but for a completely different case...
Just looking at the website now, Capt. Falcon hasn't been confirmed yet, and we can only imply Ness. So, we don't have to, and actually can't expet to see them yet. Secondly, the a-la-clone deal doesn't quite work, as Luigi, Young Link, Falco, and some unknown clone of Wario haven't been confirmed either. Thusly, anyone can conceivably be there. Also, one can see the nice white trapazoid of glare that covers over one whole slot, and that too can be everybody. Additionally, we can't sumise that it's ALL the slots, becase extra ones were added for some of the last bonus characters in SSBM along the edges that you couldn't see at the beginnig.

However...

The two rows of nine off the start looks pretty bad as compared to Melee, which a set down of that magnitude isn't something that we'd think would happen after all the effort we're seeing being put into this game. As for the character count, there are 21 confirmed characters, with more on the way. With squares to be added later aside, the selection is way to big to fit that many more slots. The selected character screens do seem like a static image, which doesn't follow at all with precedence from the last games. And finally, I'd have expected a better quality picture if it was a legit pic.

So! This is my request for a link to where you found it, please.
Certainly in light of the Halo DS, links and better pics or it didn't happen.

It maybe fake but looks real to me. And agree with DG

Oh, it looks real enough, and to some vague degree it might be. However, just using a bit of deduction from what we already know, we can tick off some things about it, and enough so to logically doubt it. No worries, it happens.

Hehe, Halo DS anyone? I'll host.

There's no arguement, it's fake.

That's a crappy home TV.

That means they would have to accidentally leak the ACTUAL game out, and someone would get it and play it at home.

In short, no and fake. And fail.

Agree'd. It'd be impossible for someone to do that. Whoever made this photo should have "FAIL" stamped across their forehead.

People make these sorts of things for fun all the time. Fake box arts and character selection screens are crawling all over the internet! Just do a few Google image searches to see them all first hand.

The only ones who deserve the "FAIL" stamp are those who believe them. :bubs:

^ Luke and Vader for the ultimate win.

It's a huge long shot but I'd like Geno to get in on this action.

I just saw the Snake video, it looks like he'll be a pretty good character.

Also, the more I hear about Wario the more he pees me off.

I was all  when I saw that the update was Shielding.

Then I scrolled down and saw "Fox Final Smash". So I was all :)

Then I saw that it was the Landmaster.

Ooh, 2-player mode in the side-scrolling adventure part.

Kind of reminds me of controlling Tails in the early Sonic games.

Yeah, I like the sound of 2-player Adventure Mode too, I'll actually play multiplayer in the same house (instead of MMOGs)

Yes, Co-op! Schweet! It also looks like there'll be a leveling system.

Weird update is weird.

Personally, I think that announcing co-op should have merited a double update. I mean, okay, we can do co-op, what else?

We can spacejump back when we can't keep up with Player 1.
We have a map screen.
We form teams in development of the story.
We have Intense Mode (which must be equivalent of Very Hard in Melee).

Look at the big picture, guy.

The number one rule of the Internet is that no matter how awesome a Smash Dojo update is, there will always be a few butts out there who'll whine and complain about it. Although different updates have different amounts of said whinings.

Seriously, some people have whined over the "lack of any new information" in the Wi-Fi update.

The way I see it, be content or shut up. ;) Complaining about Sakurai giving you free tablespoons of awesome each day isn't cool.

I object! Clearly I am not a butt :O

I was however, kinda not thrilled with some of the stuff posted, just soley for the fact of the whizz-bang he's announcing the space jump and map. Yes yes, the map is shiny and such, but space jump doesn't seem that special to me after getting annoyed with it from experiencing sudden jumps whilst co-oping in halo -_-"

It is, on the bright side, good that they've included it, because dying because player one ran too far would be even worse XD

Just because you found the map shiny and the space jump annoying, doesn't keep it from being a very meaty update with plenty of substance and new information. Expecially when we got a double update yesterday.

Sorry to step all over your toes, but I've heard enough complaints about Sakurai not giving us enough free info every day for be a bit peeved at it. :P
