From what I saw, he jumped as he went off that slight incline in the level, which could count as a ramp in the game's logic. I could be wrong, but in most situations, plain jumping will not avoid a POW Block.

I'm pretty sure I dodged a POW with a hop before.

And no, no expert staff ghosts yet. Haven't really tried.

I've unlocked every expert ghost! The prize is the ability to play as your Mii wearing Mario's overalls.

I think I've finally got my VS score above 7000 for good this time.

Oh, and I saw someone with a 9999 VS score for the first time.

I should probably finish the single player one of these days.

I used the Wiimote+Nunchuck control system. Anything else, I feel, would not be easy enough to use.

I also tried a lot of times, looking for the most optimal place to use a mushroom, saving them for shortcuts.

I used manual, never automatic.

Track specific hints:

Rainbow Road: Those circular holes can be jumped over with a mushroom.

DK's Snowboard Cross: At the part with the deep snow and the Shyguys, stay at the right edge and get as many trick-boosts from the blue line thing as you can. If you're currently doing a trick on a tight curve on that blue line, you'll actually curve around with it.

Coconut Mall: There's a secret passageway at the beginning you need a mushroom to get through, look where the staff ghost goes and follow it.

Waluigi Stadium: At the part with the fire and wooden Piranha Plants, just stay to an edge and jump over the wooden pipes.

... I would say more, but I can't verify anything since my Wii is still away for Brawl-related repairs.

Finally got all the golds in 150CC today, even two-starred the leaf cup; and now my online rating's solidly in the high-6000 range. Shows what one can achieve when they spend a lot of time doing something... >_> <_<

And I'll get you Sparkle for that one GBA Bowser Castle race ;) That's usually my best track, but that little bump into the lava there... ouch.

It'd be nice if there was an option to make a "favorite track" and "hated track" list to go alongside the random option, so you could pick "Random Favorite" or vote for "Anything But These Tracks". If I could vote "Anything But Wario's Gold Mine" every time, I'd never vote for anything else.

Do you use a kart or bike?

@Inverse: Warios Gold Mine is AWESOME. My least favourite track is Shy Guy Beach. Its just so... boring.

I use karts, mostly, but it's just a personal preferance. It's better to use bikes on the more plain and flat courses, though, since you can fit a few wheelies here and there.

Yeah, I've always wondered why no one picks that, and started picking it from time to time just to make things different. But... yeah, the last time I played it I thought man is this a crappy course actually. They could've used something else, you know? Maybe the Rainbow Road from SNES or GBA (assuming there was one, I didn't play it, but that seems a safe assumption).

I love Wario's Gold Mine. Even though I, as everyone else, fail horribly at it. I just think it's a cool track.

I drift all over gold mine. There are few times in that level that I'm not drifting.

Yeah, was just drowning my sorrows in "what ifs" :P

Still say a whole Rainbow Cup of previous Rainbow Roads would've been AMAZING.

Ahh, why does everyone keep saying that?? I thought I'd finally come up with an original idea, but apparently everyone thought of it!

(but yes, that would've been amazingly awesome)

They should have put in just one more Bowser's Castle so I could do a Bowser Cup. And it should have been the one from Double Dash.

Last one would have to be Rainbow Road from SNES because that was by far the hardest one. The other ones are more intricate and cooler looking but got damn did the SNES version make you use every ounce of skill you had.

SNES can be second-to-last; N64 has to be last, it's just such a great ending to a game.
