Wii!

The Nintendo Revloution has an official name. Wii. No really, look at Joystiq and Gamespot.
What do you all think? I like revolution better but I will warm up to Wii.

I think it's pretty bad. Revolution was an awesome name, but Wii? That's nowhere near as cool. It sounds weird.

I'll till be calling it the Revolution.

Why do I KEEP reading that as "Wiki" even after I've seen it so many times?

I like the we=wii pun, but the name'll take some getting used to... I can say I'm not looking forward to years and years of people making stupid tired jokes based on that name, though. >_>

Are you sure this is the final name? Remember the Gamecube? The working title of it was the Dolphin. (no foolin') I'm sure they'll change it before they bring it over to the States.

(also, I recall the Revolution's name being changed to the Nintendo Go...so you can't trust everything you read)

This is, I think, pretty much final. Though the working title of the Gamecube was Dolphin, you can say that the working title of the Wii was the Revolution. Finally, the Revolution's name was never changed to Go, that was a clever fake.

I am the only person in the world who liked the name Dolphin better than Gamecube, aren't I?

"Dolphin" just sounds so... pretty and elegant. "Gamecube" just sounds kind of bland in comparison.

S'not like "Wii" is the first really bizarre console name anyway. Wonderswan? Dreamcast? (though I'll admit, as odd as it sounds I still think Dreamcast is one of the absolute coolest sounding console names EVER) Heck, even Xbox sounds pretty odd at first, and when I first heard the word "Playstation" I thought it sounded more like a preschool toy than a gaming system.

Um, I'm unsure. It's creative, you got to give them that (see also: Nintendo 64) I hope it grows on me. I'll still be calling it the Revolution, or revo, for a long time coming...

"Wind Waker? More like WIND BREAKER amirite?"

Not to mention lots of people whining about the name "Twilight Princess" being too "girly" o_O

I have kinda been following the revolution partly becasue (i admit it i have been listening to bulbacast) but i don't know if i will be able to accept the name... nothing against it but i just allways will know it as the revolution. It isn't like the gamecube which i new nothing about when it was called the dolphin. I guess that I will have to adapt. Oh well

I'm not sure how I'd be able to buy it... I mean, the Revolution is fine, but I just can't see me going to my dad and asking "Dad, can we go buy a Wii?" Or to my friends, "Wanna come to my house and play my Wii?"

And when you think about it, that's a pretty good point. Stupid names can still sell stuff. And the logo still looks really classy. From an aethetic standpoint, "Wii" is a cool-lookin' word.

i remember "dolphin" yeah that was bad. but i think revolution was really nice but Wii is pretty lame. good thing im looking forward to PS3 because at least i know how to pronounce it.
