Comin down homestretch... I might actually get it this time. My birthday was yesterday, and I got 130 dollars in gamestop credit. That, added on to the fact that I have 200 dollars from gamestop from when I traded in my DVDs, as well as my $100 cash means that when a wii comes in stock, I will totally get one and like a bunch of games.

I fear that if Nintendo doesn't start to catch up on some obvious things (online play in VC games, more channels for like individual games, for example), the Wii's going to end up just like the Gamecube.

Also, Super Paper Mario looks very promising. :)

VC games dont have online play. It wouldnt make any sense. And I dont see what is bad about ending up like the gamecube.

I dont see why it would have to catch up on anything. It's just about up to par thus far. Wii is actually doing the best (Time-wise, not overall). In it's forst few months, xbox 360 sold 1.5 million units. In the same amount of time, wii sold 4.4 million. Ps3 has the worst sales by far.

If any system is in danger, it is the ps3. Did you know that sony loses $200 for every ps3 they sell?

Zelda TP? The top selling sixth-gen game for the past 3 months.

Solution: Dont buy the bad ones. There are hundreds of games for each system. Every system has it's good and bad.

But there are few new good games out.

I got my first try at a Wii today. There was a young adults dinner at my church, and they had a couple of systems set up to play afterwards. We only played Wii Sports, but it was great. I really want one now.

Galaga, Super Mario Bros, Bomberman, Golden Axe, F-Zero, Street Fighter etc... Without online play.
That makes sense? Whatever, man.

I read somewhere that the Arcade version of Galaga available for the Xbox360 has online scoreboard and stuff whereas the one on VC is nothing more than just the NES rom. And they both cost pretty much the same.

I just hope that Nintendo would be working on some sort of online system for the VC titles and would release it as a free update. It would justify the high price of the VC games (even though I personally don't think they're that expensive).

Like the others said, lack of good games (and most importantly, lack of proper 3rd party titles). If it hadn't had any of the 1st party titles, it would've flopped pretty quickly.

they didn't have online play back in the NES days. they make it exactly like it was back then.

But why?
If Nintendo claim the Wii to be a truly revolutionary console, why can't they think enough out of the box to have online play? Granted, most VC games don't even have multiplayer capability (and there are many multiplayer games that wouldn't work well online), but there are plenty of titles (like Street Fighter) that are practically begging for online play.

Some of the games for wii have online play, like super smash Bros. Brawl, but the virtual console is is your(no pun intended) Link to the Past. Back before Internet Routers.

I went to the mall yesterday, and Ubisoft was hosting some sort event, promoting thier products or whatever. Anyways, four Nintendo Wii consoles were up for free-play. It was pretty dope. I played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Yeah... that's all I can really contribute to this topic at the moment...

Yeah, but like I already mentioned, other consoles (atleast Xbox 360) are already putting online features into some classic games. So why shouldn't Nintendo do something similar?
Before you begin with the "Nintendo keeps its own style and they don't care about what other consoles are going at" -argument, violence and unnecessary strong bias on better graphics in modern games is one issue (something that Nintendo, fortunately, haven't fallen into), but having online features is a totally different thing. It's something that's practically a no-brainer for certain games.

Also, "Miyamoto: Wii enhancements coming for hardcore gamers"

The store just got them back in stock. I got the last one.

I played call of duty 3. It's great. I'm playing my new gamecube games right now, since my girlfriend got my some for my birthday. I gotta go play more.
