Um... guys?
That line has been there for like 2 months now. Clicking on it just gives you a message telling you to go to wii.nintendo.com to get the gameplay video.
Yeah, I noticed that after I posted. I thought that the one telling everyone to go to Nintendo's website for the videos had a different title, but it didn't. Ah well, it's a good update anyway. Here's all that I could notice from it:
- You can now use the + and - buttons to switch the pages in the Wii Settings menu.
- The contacts in your contact list can be moved around.
- There's a clock on the main menu.
- The Disc Channel's disc logo (when no game is inserted) spins around
- The Forecast Channel displays an icon from the main menu telling you the "current" (by current, I mean hours behind

) weather for the area.
- The News Channel displays headlines from the main menu.
- The "Total Time Played" message on the Wii Message Board is white instead of yellow now.
- Channels seem to load quicker, and Wii discs seem to read quicker (I can confirm the channels one on my Wii, at least)
- You can now back out of updates
- You can access the Home menu from the Shop Channel's startup
- [s]Kremlings[/s] Modders beware, 'cause they're after you.

Well, not really, but that little update message is strange.
- The Shop Channel got a coolness boost. While this wasn't part of the update itself, it happened around the same time period. You can now filter down game searches even further by typing in parts of game titles, or viewing the most popular (most downloaded) games. I'm still hoping for embedded game videos in the future on the shop channel.
In the future, I'm hoping for the following for the Wii updates:
- The ability to play and load Virtual Console games and save games off of your SD card.
- Support for SD Cards higher than 2 GB
- The ability to copy more than just one save game onto the SD Card and Wii. It is really annoying to delete one of my game saves on the Wii in order to copy the game save from my SD card onto it.
- The ability to keep your Wii light glowing while the Wii is on
- Different color schemes for the Wii menu (I'm thinking that this'll happen when the different colored Wii come out)
- Faster friend-registering and message sending for the Wii Message Board
- An upgraded Mii channel with more customization options everywhere. This may be vital after the "Check Mii Out" channel is out for awhile.
- The ability to group Wii Channels together using "Folder" channels. Think of cutting down on space by just accessing an NES Virtual Console folder of yours, or a Cool Channels / Crap Channels folder.
- More than 48 slots on the Wii menu, now that loading has sped up a bit for switching to channels. This can be vital to avid game collectors, or game reviewers, or the rich folk who can spend their money on all of the Virtual Console games.
- I doubt that this one will happen anytime soon: the ability to use just one friend code for all Nintendo games. This is sort of happening with EA, as they as using little accounts for Madden, Fifa, etc., on the Wii.
I'm pretty sure that all of those things are possible through Wii updates, minus the last one because it's not necessarily a system update, and we're talking about Nintendo.
Also, I downloaded Galaga '90 and Wave Race 64 (despite already having it on the N64 in my room; I had a bit of extra money to spend

). Galaga '90 is great for quick bursts, and if you enjoyed the arcade game, I can recommend it to you. However, I'm not too good at the game, as I can only get one level past the first bonus round.
Wave Race 64 is pretty fun, but I shouldn't have really spent ten dollars on it when I could play the game in my room. Progressive scan makes the game sharp and more detailed (down with the N64 blurring), and I hadn't noticed the widescreen in it before. Nostalgia, yay!
