So, do these wiimotes just eat batteries or what?

Are the rechargable controller cradles licensed by Nintendo?

I dunno, but I think the wiimote is usually ok with batteries.

I only had 1 wiimote. I bought a battery charge station right when I bought the wii. The charge station came with 2 battery packs. For some reason, 1 pack wasnt able to hold a charge after a month. The other pack, luckily, worked perfectly for months.

So the Wii has apparently sold 650K in North America over the last two weeks...

...holy crap.

Oh, and apparently a new channel came out in Japan that lets you download DS demos, submit game opinions to Nintendo, and stream Wii game videos. We've heard about it before, but I'm really hoping that us Americans get it on or before Christmas...that'd be a better gift than the Internet Channel/Mario Bros thingy from last year.

The Channel was also suggested to be launched in North America in May 2008, but Nintendo currently has no plans to release it in that region

What a useless thing to put in an article. With that logic, I could write stuff like that anywhere. In Will Smith's page, I could put "It has been suggested that he autograph my whole fresh prince collection, but he hasnt planned on doing it yet."

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was never released in Europe, ever. Does that mean that any hope for it on the Virtual Console over here is lost? I've heard good things about that game, and want to check it out. Earthbound, too.

Yes. This is a double-post.

I was browsing the Wii Shop channel, when something I haven't seen before happened. Nothing big, I'm just curious about it. One of the games that I've already downloaded (Kirby's Adventure) had a big "Updated!" tab next to it. I click on it, and where the "you have downloaded this game already" thing usually appears, there was a big "update" button.

Does anyone know what it'll do if I click on it? I don't want to lose any of my save progress, and I'm not sure what it really means to "update" them... aren't they supposed to be exactly how they were back then?

There must have been a bug, I'm not sure what to do if you want to keep you save files.

I think the game data and save data are held in seperate files, So I think it shouldn't be a problem.

By the way, Zak and Wiki is awesome. It's a adventure/puzzle game, the way the puzzles are set up remind me alot of those old Hapland Flash games.

Got a Wii on Wednesday and finally set it up today. It's cool, I've never had a console with such a vast "non-disc" interface, so it's new to me. The console itself is a lot smaller than I thought it'd be.

I didn't find my friend code (though I wasn't really looking for it) so I'll post that later.

How quickly do the system updates work for you guys? I was downloading the new shop update yesterday, and after a few minutes or so the download bar had barely progressed at all (a few pixels, maybe). At that rate it would've taken many, many hours to complete. Do these go slowly for you guys, too?

That specific update went pretty quickly for me, but other past ones have been slow.

I'm sorry to say this, but (if I'm correct, that is) the shop update is the shortest update I had to endure. I could be wrong, though.

The shop update took 10, maybe at most 15 minutes for me, though of course I wasn't timing it.

Hm, that's odd. Did the loading bar stay near the start and then quickly jump to the end for you guys? That could be what's happening, maybe I'm just not being patient enough.

For me, it seemed to get a bit faster for the second half.

I hope that helps.

With a Insight BB, it goes faster every time you update it. Even though it is still pretty slow. Just go read half a Lemony Snicket book and it should be almost halfway done.

Nintendo was probably stupid and didn't upgrade your Wii past its original firmware, so it's downloading everything that has occurred over the last year on it. Disregard this post if you've already updated once before this though.

The lightsabers from No more Heros makes much more sense than the Star Wars ones

Since when do Lasers stop without something being in the way?

I just now the post that said he just recently got his Wii, so I didn't consider this.

Ju Ju, does your Wii menu display the time? If not, you probably just have the basics.

No, I updated when I first got it (and yes, it displays the time). So that's definitely not the problem. I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks guys.

Its a Self-Canceling Beam. You don't have to understand it, it just works.

However much it costs to make a laser cancel itself, it would be less costly to just put a bar in the front, which would also help give it balance.

You can now use (something) type music files in slideshows and change the Photo Channel icon.

Yeah, speaking of which, did you receive my Photo Channel gift? :P

EDIT: Oh, and the updates are no more MP3 playback in it (instead it's AAC), and you can use one of your images as the main Photo Channel icon.
