Post subject:  Re: Wii!

I've got a question.

There's a Virtual Console game that has only one save file, and two people want to have separate save data on it. Is it possible to get separate save data by doing things like swapping SD cards around, and stuff like that? I don't really know how the SD cards actually work with the Wii, as I've not had enough games to need one yet.

Can someone explain to me how to manage it? Thanks.

(By the way, the game in question is Pokémon Snap, though I don't think that's relevant)

It amazes me how dumb left handed people can be when it comes to the Wii.

I've seen like 20 topics on gamefaqs where a left person says "No More Heroes isn't fun to play if you're left handed, there's no option to have the wresting move arrows point in the direction they should face for the left handed style of holding the controller"

For some reason, they're under the impression that Just because they have the option of holding the control stick in their left hand and the buttons in their left, they should. Say, I just noticed I can hold my gamecube controller upside-down, maybe I should try doing that.

Also, I've seen quite a few saying that playing as a right-handed link in Twilight Princess was "Awkard" Despite the fact that all you need to do is waggle to swing.

wut

I'm left-handed and I've never had problems with any Wii game.

Post subject:  Re: Wii!

I have a left-handed friend who insists on playing Metroid Prime 3 with the Wiimote in his left hand and the nunchuk in his right. It seems a little weird at first because its backwards to the hands Samus uses onscreen, but functionally it doesn't seem to matter at all. Can't say how well it applies to games like No More Heroes, but MP3 does feature motion controls a little bit more complex than random waggling.

I hope that this game doesn't disappoint.

Its concept seems great; I can't wait to see what the reviewers think about it around its release date.

Looks like a C+ game at best. But I'll definatly rent it for the laughs.

The problem with the Wii: Most developers are only focusing on the waggle and neglected it's best strength; it's use as a pointer.

P.s: The Speaker in the Wiimote sounds awful and I have yet to have it used in a good way.

I think it sounds good in Super Mario Galaxy.

And I also think it's put to good effect in WarioWare. Especially on the "Answer the phone!" microgame.

I like it in shooting games. It works so much better to use a pointer to look around than to use a second joystick.

Post subject:  Re: Wii!

There's a problem that I experience with it - every so often (which means half the time), the cursor wobbles a little bit. This can be solved by re-syncing the Wiimote, but it's still a bit annoying.

My Suggestion: Auto Sync whenever you move the Wii. Come on. Have the crazy glasses guy with the 3D idea come up with how to do it.

Also, Mike and Jerry from Penny Arcade say No More Heroes is amazing - is this tru?

Jon's Wii Zapper post: True enough.

Actually I got the Wii Zapper for Christmas (didn't even ask for it lol) and I haven't touched it yet.

No thanks I'll play Guitar Hero or wait for Rock Band.

You should have known NMH was amazing before Penny Arcade told you.

That was actually the first time I ever played Co-Star mode(stinks to be an only child).

Wow, hacking the Wii is proving to be easier than we thought!

Seems to me like the Wii-mote would explode after a while.

Mario Kart: Wii Impressions from IGN

In a nutshell:
  • Plastic Wii Wheel comes with every copy of the game; has an opening for IR pointing
  • Four different control methods: Horizontal Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Classic Controller, and Gamecube Controller
  • Records will have controller icons next to them to show you what controller the person used
  • Developers favor the horizontal Wii Remote controller option
  • 12 racers in total for all races
  • Each racers starts out with 6 vehicles: 3 karts, and 3 motorcycles
  • Grand Prix: 50cc is kart-exclusive, 100cc is motorcycle-exclusive, and 150cc is a mixture of both
  • Motorcycles turn slower than karts, but can have more opportunities for tricks
  • Tricks = Boost power
  • NO SNAKING. There is a new powersliding method that charges your total boost power with how long you hold a successful powerslide.
  • 12 starting drivers: Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Toad, Koopa, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, and Bowser; there is the assumption that there will be more racers because of how empty the character select screen is; Mii's will be playable
  • At least 32 tracks: 16 new, and 16 old; retro tracks have upgraded Wii graphics, though they retain their "retro" feel
  • Getting hit while holding items will, once again, spill them onto the track
  • Two new items announced: a POW block that makes use of hopping rhythmically 3 times in a row; and a cloud that'll speed you up for as long as you hold it, yet constantly shrink you down in size (it can also transfer to other opponents with collisions)
  • Icons will now appear in-relation to nearby hazards at the bottom of the screen
  • 12-player online; 2 people can play splitscreen on a system while online; online Battle Mode
  • There will be a Mario Kart Channel (currently in-game, but possibly available from the Wii Menu) that'll be able to do things such as upload/download ghost data, download weekly missions, download tournaments, etc.
  • Up to four save slots; tons of stat tracking for each player (examples seen in the following quote)
    From the IGN article wrote:
The game will record all sorts of fun tidbits: Distance traveled, Total Race and Battle count, how much you've used the Wii Wheel, how many tricks you've pulled off, favorite character, favorite vehicle, favorite course, and favorite stage. Nintendo WFC friend race win/losses. Ghosts sent and ghosts received. There's something called "VR Rating" as well as "Battle Rating," both were set at 5000 points during our demo. It'll track how many Wi-Fi races you've played and your Wi-Fi Battle mode win/loss record. It'll track how many first place appearances, percentages of times in first place, how many times you hit someone, how many times you've been hit, your ghost race wins/losses, and how many tournaments you've played.
  • It is currently planned to be released in late Spring 2008

Dear God...at first I wasn't too excited for this game, but now I really am. Screw the Gamecube-esque graphics, this looks to be quite fun.

Post subject:  Re: Wii!

32 tracks, nice. I dunno what Double Dash had, but that's much better than the 16 I'm used to, even if the extra 16 are repeats (I won't even know some of them)

When I saw "To be released in late spring of 1008", I thought "2008?!?" but then remembered currently what year it was.

Looks pretty good.

Alright, I'm usually all like "Graphix don't matter it's made by Nintendo lolol"

But oh god.

This...

Image

This isn't even Gamecube graphics, it's more like N64 graphics. You could tell me this was a screenshot from the Mario Kart 64 beta and I would have believed you.

Oh, yeah Nintendo. Adding excessive Bloom makes every game look next-gen

Image

HECK YES, BROWN, BLOOM, AND LENS FLARE.

Also note hexagonal tubes.

Nintendo fans really don't care about graphics and will not buy PS3s.
