I was playing SSBB earlier, and all of a sudden, it said something to the effect of "Error. Please remove the disk and turn the power off." I did that (the power button didn't work, so I unplugged it). I put it back in to see if it would work, but it did the same thing. So, I put Super Mario Galaxy in to see if it was just the game, but it stopped with the same error message. What's happening, and how do I fix it?

Has there been any issues with games at all in the past (i.e. randomly stuttering, skipping sounds, etc.)? Also, where do you have your Wii at, and is it being placed horizontally or vertically?

If you're in a space where it is either dusty or filled with smoke (cigarettes and such), then the Wii's disc lens could possibly be too dirty to read dual-layered disc games like Smash Bros. However, if it happened with Mario Galaxy as well, it could be because your Wii is starting to overheat. If not already, try placing your Wii horizontally and in a relatively open space; this will allow it to filter better.

Other than that, I'm not entirely sure. You can try some troubleshooting with Nintendo's website, or you could call up Nintendo's customer service (available from their website), to see what they say about the issue. If you've had your Wii for less than a year (or a year and three months if you registered it), then they can probably repair it for free.

It's never happened before, but it IS vertical and next to a Nintendo 64. OK, I'll rearrange things and see if that helps. Thanks!

Uh-oh, I moved it, and it's still not working. I'm going to call Nintendo about this and one other problem some people here might be able to help me with: Why can't I copy my SSBB data over to my SD card? I tried to copy it, but it said "This file cannot be copied". Why? This is driving me nuts, because it sure isn't file size: I can copy almost 70 of them there. HELP!

Games that use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection are linked to your console (which is why your friend code can be screwed up if you use a different Wii console with your game online), so you cannot transfer them to SD Cards. Examples of games that don't allow for this to work include Elebits, Guitar Hero 3, Mario Strikers, and Brawl.

I had this same problem. I almost sent it in to Nintendo,
but after trying it several times, it started working again(but
it would display the error message if I went to solo).
Just keep it in Vault or Group for while if you can get the game
to start at all. After a while, it should work perfectly.
However, this was just in me and my friend's case. It may not work for you.

Um...I sent it to Nintendo and I got it back weeks ago.
