Agreed, I think the names need to be bigger and stand out more.

No, then it defeats the purpose of Avatars and Banners.

Is it just me or is the font size just a tad too small?

The font size seems pretty fine to me. Are you sure you didn't try and scroll up or down a page while holding the Control key?

Positive. I'm talking about very, very slightly, though... like, one point or something.

The text seems fine in the edit box, but it seems a little odd everywhere else, I think. I dunno, maybe I be trippin'...

EDIT: I know what it is. The old forum used Verdana, not Trebuchet MS as Magna Carta thought. Trebuchet MS is what we're using now (for those of us who have it but not Lucida Grande installed), and it usually looks smaller than Verdana does when at the same point size.

We should probably change it to Verdana if our goal is to make it look like the old forum as much as possible.

Honestly, I like this new font. If it is new. I thought the font on the phpBB2 forum was Trebuchet...
I prefer this better than whatever the old forum used. Though, it did take a while to grow accustomed to.

God this is so awful

It's like squint-o-vision

And I know I can CTRL+mousewheel, but it's annoying to have to do that all the time.

To be honest, I didn't notice a difference with the fonts, what with the change in appearance of everything else.

If you have Firefox (or probably any browser, I only know on Firefox for sure), you can try setting the default text size a notch higher in the preferences...though I guess that would hinder your other frequently viewed sites.
Personally, I can't see a problem, it all looks fine for me.

Not presently, no. Sorry. But I will get you started:

Begin with: header ("Content-type: image/png");

Then use:
  • imagecreatetruecolor() to initialize the image,
  • imagecolorallocate() to define the colors (this is the tedious part if you want it fancy),
  • imagesetpixel() to actually paint the image,
  • imagepng() to send it to the browser, and
  • imagedestroy() to finish.

See php.net for help on the various functions.

I have an avatar that ranges in size from about 15 pixels to 100 pixels.

yeah, the avatar stretching is annoying. Just look at mine!
But some people have smaller avatars still, how do you do that?

Also, this font doesn't seem to have a capital y....

It probably has to do with whether or not your avatar is offsite. It may have to do with whether it's a dynamic image, too... your avatar always changes, so if phpBB caches the wrong size, it will display your avatar with the wrong size. I don't know how phpBB determines what the size should be, but it probably looks at the image when you first give it the URL and keeps using the size of whatever image it got until you update your avatar in the options or something.

That just happened to me in countdown from 100,000 :)

Also known as the Anti-Moron feature.

Which is also Anit-MooKoo because it doesn't like to work for me. Talk about bad luck.

Really? how?

Well, because I still simul-posted like 3 times in a row yesterday. I'm used to this though, if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all.

Very snazzy guys. Thanks for putting lots of work into this. It might take me a while to get used to it though. :-|

Did anybody even notice the addition of the Wiki link at the top of the Forum yesterday? :P

I'm liking that 12x13 Homestar icon that goes along with it. Cool stuffs.

I noticed it too. Pretty snazzy.
At first, I couldn't figure out what it was. Then finally it dawned on me.

Here's something else that I noticed: unlike before the upgrade, contact buttons for instant messaging programs no longer appear below the posts. It would be nice if these buttons were placed underneath posts again, but it may clutter up the area a bit. Either way, it's just a bit more convenient.

This, it is easier to scroll around the pages and see who has the IMing service that you have, than to look at everyone's profile.

SUGGESTION

Please make the new post indicators reset after you log off/go away from the forum then come back.

I'm getting tired of seeing that there are new posts from yesterday from pages I really don't care about.

^^ That's what the Mark All as Read button is for. When you're done for the night, click it.

I like the fact that the new post indicators don't reset.
This way, if you don't get time to check some threads before you log off, you know which ones you haven't read for next time.
Also, if someone posts right before you log off, you don't miss it next time.

Exactly! This is one of the main features I love so much, with being on dial-up and all.

I really like the fact that you can preview your sig and avatar in your control panel.
No more submitting them, then checking my previous posts to see if it worked!!

It does this? Wow. Now I don't have to worry about not having read anything if my brother kicks me off.
