Something about post indicators not resetting

Actually, this irritates me. I liked the fact that it would automatically clear everything when I log off. Now I have to go out of my way to hit the stupid "mark all forums read" button.
It's possible for me to accidentally close the window or close the tab, forgetting that the forum is there. ._.

Not to mention the old bug (probably caused in part by Firefox) where I'd open up, say, two threads from e-mail subscriptions and, for some inexplicable reason, I'd be logged on when I opened the first thread, but not when I opened the second thread. Then when I logged back in, all the threads were marked "read"!

It rarely happened, but was pretty annoying when it did.

That was really annoying. I remember that I used to have it always marked "log me in every time I visit" and it never logged me in. Plus if I wasn't clicking the post button to log in, I had to log in twice for some reason.

I also had a glitch like that in phpBB2, where if I clicked on the link to the Forum twice on the main part of the Wiki, it'd log me out when I entered the Forum. Then, when I logged back on, it'd mark all the posts as read.

That was really annoying, and I'm glad that it's nonexistent now.

Maybe it's just me, but I really hate the lack of a "quote" option on posts when you're not logged in. Used to be nearly half the time I'd log in because I wanted to reply to someone's post, and I'd click the quote button and it'd take me to the password screen. What happened to that?

I did. I added some people to the friends list too, but then I realized that they weren't really friend requests; it pretty much just shows if they're online or not.

Why does "show users posts" in people's profiles just link to the threads they've posted in. It used to be specific posts.

Edit: Wait, it only does that in the user control panel. Never mind.

I don't celebrate my birthday so I didn't do it. Hmph.

Hey nice change. I like it! Looks real cool. Like the banner at the top with the blinkin H*R... just like the blinkin H*R that I inspired on the wiki. Yeah! I inspired it. It's the truth yo. Gotta problem with that? lol.

Now that we've had some time, I've downgraded this thread from a global announcement to a sticky in the help desk. (Eventually, it will be un-stickied.) I'll go over all the suggestions and determine which ones we will implement. Thanks for your feedback!

w00t! I can't wait to see what else will [possibly] change. :)

EDIT: Hm, I'm not sure if it's happening to anyone else, but I seem to be noticing a glitch. Sometimes, if a user posts an image, it'll not load up and the text "Image" will appear instead. It could very well be a connection issue by me, but it seems to happen enough to not be the case. Any ideas?

Post subject:  Re: Upgrade to phpBB3

I'm guessing it's because the image doesn't exist.

Post subject:  Re: Upgrade to phpBB3

No; the images normally do exist. For instance, I just recently posted some new pictures in the Post Your Pics thread, and two of the three images would just say "Image" until I refreshed a couple times. There have been many other instances, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Yeah, I've noticed this myself.

Sometime's I think that the problem lies in the hosting of the image, but some of them I'm not sure are accounted for.

I noticed that once in my signature. Usually it'll show the image, but one time (not sure what i did to trigger this), it just showed the word "Image" instead of the actual picture.

If it just says image, you can right-/contol-click and choose "view image" to see if it works or not.

Post subject:  Re: Upgrade to phpBB3

I believe that "Image" is in text form, meaning that you wouldn't be able to right click it to view the image. You could access the link through a quote/edit, though.

Even then, it occurs on images hosted on places like TinyPic and Imageshack, whose servers wouldn't hiccup enough for that to happen at the rate it does. It may also have to do with the servers at this Forum (it seems to be going down for me more than it used to), though I'm not sure.
