Post subject: The "confirmation code" when registering
PostPosted: Wed Jan 04, 2006 12:48 am
I'm currently trying to register to the forum, and every time i try to sign up i type in the confirmation code correctly, but it always comes back saying i did not type the code in right, even though i clearly did. I emailed the supervisor, who replied saying I was not being specific (which is fair, i decided after reading the email i sent him). I replied being more specific and have not gotten a reply, so a friend of mine who is on the forum suggested this. So if you could help me out here, it would be very much appretiated.

Thanks,
Adius Femm (Adius, if you like).

I need to know exactly what steps you're taking, what page you're on, the exact error message you're getting (use copy and paste), and anything else you think might help diagnose the problem.

Well, when registering, i fill out all the information correctly, i copy over the password right and everything. But then I type down the confirmation code and it always says i typed it worng, which is clearly untrue.

You didn't answer any of my questions. I especially need to know the exact error message you're getting, word for word.

What happened with me was that I was getting this error:
The code you typed did not match the one in the image or the image has expired. Please try again. You may need to enable cookies in your browser.

After several tries (and no other changes to the data) it changed to
There is no user by the name "Octan". Check your spelling, or use the form below to create a new user account.
for no apparent reason. Now it just gives me this error when I go to create a new account. I have tried within the last five minutes.

Did you check to make sure cookies are in fact enabled? That's often the problem.

They were. But now I've tried again and it worked. So I guess we'll never know how come it didn't the first time. :-D
