Well, there's sound recorder. It's a program on your computer where you record something, then you can play it backwards if you want. You need a microphone for it, though. |

Probably not, but Audacity has some nice effects you can put on sounds including backwards, speed up / slow down, change pitch, etc. |

Strongfan has made it abundantly clear that he is genetically incapable of using Google. Strongfan, could you tell us what you're trying to accomplish? What does this "program that acts like a record player" do? What will you use it for? |

Well, you can use Audacity if you're just using it to make sounds. |

And I'm going to use the program for the fun of it and maybe put some in one of my games. You didn't answer my question. I asked what you're going to use this program for, and more specifically, what it does. None of us have any idea what you're talking about, so you're going to have to tell us. What is this mythical program you're asking for? That you're going to use it "for the fun of it" doesn't mean anything to us, and "maybe put some in one of my games" means even less--"some" what?? So let's start over. You want a program. It has something to do with record players. That's all you've told us so far. Now you need to tell us what you hope to accomplish with this program. Is it used for playing music? Is it used for making music? Is it used for remixing music? What goes in and what comes out, and what do you do with it to accomplish that? What does it look like? The next time you reply, please re-read this post twice to make sure you've actually answered my questions--all of them, in detail--if you actually want us to be able to help you. |

I think he wants something that looks and acts like a record player-- like, theres a circle on it, that you can drag back and forth to make the audio play forwards and backwards. Sort of like those things DJs have at their audio table o' fun. |

That's almost always referred to as a turntable, not a record player, which might explain why his Yahoo! searches were futile. |

Unless you want to record the results of your turntable program, in which case playing it through your speakers and recording via microphone will sound very bad... |

You don't need to use a microphone for sound recorder. You can use the mixer (also part of windows) to select a recording source and set the levels. Of course, none of that may be needed, if this turntable program is worth much, it should record whatever you do. Does it? How do you make it do it? You'll have to read the instructions for that.. |

I need an audio recorder. There's one in windows... Sound recorder.. It'll record whatever you say into a microphone OR whatever sounds your computer is making. Open up sound recorder and read the help file. It tells you how to do it. The only thing is, your "input device" is just going to be that program.. To test and see if it will work, just start recording and do some things on your computer that make sound (go to homestar runner or something), record for 3 or 4 seconds (just to see if it works) |
