I'm not sure what you mean by chasms. Could you explain in detail where you are in the game? (Or do you mean "catacombs"?)

Yeah the catacombs. It is the part with the wierd puzzle with the food items and the heart and the monster.

Connect the lines in the drawing of the puzzle in the room before that puzzle to find out all the answers. Or just read read this.
