I think that it wasn't very good. However, it wasn't supposed to be very good. Therefore I think it was actually pretty good.

Confused? Well....

I've always been of the opinion that in situations like this, that because there weren't really high expectations for something like this, that they did an admirable job, therefore.

I think the level of satire in this is a bit more subtle than most of their parody and/or satire. The beginning title sequence really tries to hit you over the head with the show as being "Quite popular". Therefore, I'm already braced for it being a parody, and expecting it to deliberately be a little on the lame side. I mean, come on. It's the KOT.

I believe they were intentionally shooting for such a mixed reaction, probably. And if so, kudos to them. I found it a bit droll. Didn't laugh once, but was entertained by it's "droll" quality, just for what it is.

It DID remind me of most Cartoon Network shows today. The kind that are sorta bordering on not funny. As if it sorta tried, but didn't try very HARD. I think this tries a bit harder to fit that niche of being "Meh.. it was ok."

Therefore, if I was to initially rate this cartoon as average (with nothing outstanding but not being poor) because of general concept and tone, the satire in it upholding the idea that the KOT is somewhat lame in the humor department, gives it just a few points higher in the rating from me.

So, if I was to give this 2 stars out of 4, the self-satire would make me give it an extra star. So I say 3 out of 4. Which means it's good. Not great, not outstanding, and not a work of genius. But good. Slightly better than average.

Also included in that 3rd star is the experimental art style, which is pretty pleasing to look at, and interesting.

Just so you know, these sorta posts would probably work better with the mods here.

I liked it, besides the fact it didn't have anything amazingly funny.

Honestly, I loved this toon XD It's not often when I actually have a favorite toon with the KOT in it~

Best parts:
KOT: Somebody get the door! I'll get it!
The Knight: Ooooooh yeah! This is gonna be awesome! *CRUNCHED*
The Little Chef Guy, the Knight and the Bishop's voices.
The Hornblower's expression before the scene change.
The Tackle Football skit.

(also, hai I'm Tikara~ :3)

Teehee! :-)

This was pretty funny. Strong Bad's thing was a bit drawn out, but it was still pretty funny.

Strong Bad? I don't think he was in this short. Unless you meant to post this in the Answering machine thread.

Wow...I was dissapointed.

This is probably the first TBC cartoon that I have EVER been dissapointed in....EVER.

The humor was immature, the animation (though done on purpose) was NOT impressive...

That was considering that it was not a parody

Considering that it is a parody of Kid's Cartoons these days, it was great.

Yea. I was a Tolkein-head before it was cool. But this dragon is like Smaug's weak cousin from someplace foreign, where everything is purple and comes with a heart plug.

Yea, right there with ya. This was solid, clever, in character, and nattily animated. I'm fond of their varying styles, too. And, frankly, the KOT isn't *supposed* to be funny himself -- he's funny 'cuz he's lame:

His "have you tried..." was a *type* of his lameness. It almost made sense, but not quite. The puzzle of the Poopsmith's stench defeated the best efforts of All The King's Men, but the KOT's solution was just ... laughable. Even his final solution was a joke. The cartoon's more a series of painfully amusing moments, than lol moments.

One doesn't laugh WITH the KOT, one laughs AT him.

Hmmm...I dunno. I appreciate the contrast, yet even on that level I don't think I care for it. Far too different from their original brand of comedy.

Word. I love that part, too. This whole toon is fantastic ; it really reminds me of older toons. I just love everything about it.

Does anyone know whether the menu to Everything Else, Volume 3 calls this short by its shortened Toons Menu name or its full Title Card name? I'm hoping it will help in a debate over which name to use for the Wiki article.
