I didn't like the fork in the eye, not one bit. I felt very uncomfortable about her seeing it, and almost turned it off. (seeing as there was no warning, and it was too late, she already saw it, what was the use?)
I always could depend on the Homestar site to have cartoons that were pretty kid friendly (for sophisticed kids, that is ;) ) Sure, I know it's directed more at teens, and has words like sucks and crap, but that's nothing the kid doesn't hear at school (and *worse!)

I hate to say it, but it probably isn't going to effect her much. There's a lot of worse stuff in the mainstream media, and within a few years, if not now, she is definitely going to be subjected to worse than a cartoon character getting a fork stuck in his eye - through television, through the movies, through everything around her. I wouldn't worry about it, better now with a cheat commando then later with a realistic depiction of it in some movie.

"I'm going to stay at my parents' house! If they haven't rented out my room... again... to my brother."

Very funny toon!

There were no Thanksgiving toons at all in 2004. The other years were:
2001: Some Stupid Turkey (a "regular" toon)
2002: Happy T (a hidden message)
2003: Email #90: COLONIZATION (or "How Strong Bad Created Strong Badia")
2005: Fall Float Parade (another "regular" toon)
2006: Let Us Give TANKS!!! (Cheat Commando episode)

Interesting li'l resume, huh?

Maybe it's due to the site being international, and Thanksgiving as they write it is pretty American. *shrug*

Yeah, but why every other year then? It is a tad strange...

Haha, that was an awesome toon. My favourites have to be the fork in the Blue Laser Minion's eye and Reynold's... (I hate stereotyping, even if it's a cartoon character, so I'll regret this...) "Emo" brother. I love the music and the anarchy symbol on the wall. <3

I also like how Gunhaver is so ignorant about the Greenhelmets. :]

Awesome. Just awesome.

Maybe they just never got around to doing anything that year. I doubt there's any real reason behind it.

this site has had much worse things than a fork in the eye, and the actual forking of the eye (before it was shown) was hilarious, especially in that BL commander voice. Implications (and the use of the 'p' word) in Commandos in the Classroom, were worse, and I definately think should have been left out. That one would have been better if Reynold had wanted to do drugs, or something.
Anyway....hr is a teen site, though i like that it is clean. The main reason it, and especially CC is for teens, is cuz kids won't understand most of the references. I mean, with the garbage on TV today, what kid could understand the marvel that was 80s cartoons?
This was a great cartoon and gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling. The implication that BL Commander and "Charles" were once comrades is worth looking into, though I hope TBC don't expand on it, cuz that would ruin the joke.
all in all, CC are among the best parts of hr, along with Limozeen in Space and Trogdor himself. More please, TBC!

The fork in the eye didn't seem too bad. However, the "nuclear device" and "green helmets" parts are actually much more dark. Would a 9-year old enjoy homestar? I didn't really like half the cartoons that I love now when I was 11 or 12, because I didn't "get" the funny parts. I have noticed that the recent cartoons have gotten more violent and also random, although they are still superb, even for Homestar Runner. This may well be the best "Holiday" toon on the site.

Maybe TBC were more concerned with replacing the Compy which had been severely infected and had to be replaced.
