I tried to resist, but I felt that I just couldn't hold it in much longer... Anywho, with Halloween of 2008 more or less in the can, it looks like the time is right (then again, that time is always right nowadays) for yet another thread in which to post ideas for Halloween of 2009! These ideas include, but are by no means limited to, contemplations of characters' costumes and ideas for H'ween toon plots (with and without said costumes). So without further ado, I present now my costume ideas: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So those are my ideas for costumes; how about you guys? Remember, though, that this is not just a thread for putting costume ideas down; it can be about anything Halloween-related, including toon plots (main toons and otherwise). I'll put some of mine down later. But first, let's hear some of your ideas, huh? |

I'd love to see Homestar as Edward Scissorhands (I just watched the movie last night, and I immediately thought Homestar would be in a costume of him). The only problem is his lack of hands for scissors. Maybe they could be taped to his feet? He'd make a great Charlie Brown, too. Yellow shirt, no hat and lame comb-over... TBC would somehow need to incorporate "I got a rock." from It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown for this costume to be truly great. |

Well, some Halloween toons have made references to It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown already. For example, in "The House That Gave Sucky Treats", one of the treats you can give to Strong Mad and The Cheat when they arrive is a pile of rocks, which refers to Charlie Brown receiving nothing but a rock at each house they go to. And then in "Happy Hallow-day", before we see the characters in their actual costumes, Strong Bad is seen wearing the witch hat and mask worn by Lucy Van Pelt in the TV special. Anyway, I think Strong Sad would be better suited as Charlie Brown than Homestar. He has that yellow shirt with the black zig-zag on it already (at least he did as a child). |

I can't stop thinking about alternate options: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway, I'm thinking of doing a script for the Halloween toon, with it being themed to "Freaky Friday" and maybe calling it Freakin' Halloween. It is partially based on "Criss Cross Crisis", an episode of "The Powerpuff Girls". What happens is that Bubs is doing some kind of scientific experiments from the basement of his concession stand to turn apples into oranges and vice-versa and sell them as products for Halloween. Alas, the experiment fails to the extent that everyone gets switched with one another. Before I go into the script, though, I still need to finalize the costumes (which I'm working on right now), and also who gets switched with who. Here's what I was thinking of whose voices gets switched with whose: Homestar and Strong Bad (to SB's chagrin, of course) The Cheat and Strong Mad (The Cheat can actually talk here!) Bubs and Coach Z And in an Easter egg... Homsar and the Goblin (The Goblin speaks in Homsar's voice while Homsar does the Goblin's little dance) Now, can anyone help me out with the rest? |

I think Kazaam would also make a good Coach Z or Bubs costume. |

Except who could Senor Cardgage be? I'm thinking how about Apu from "The Simpsons"? And would Senor be the one who switches everyone back? Also, they should do a Teen Girl Squad Halloween toon, also with the girls in costume. Given Halloween, there is no way the girls can live long enough at all in this special! Who should they dress as, though? Here is a sample of what they can do for a Halloween-themed episode: (The Ugly One approaches a doorway in her costume and rings the doorbell) DOORBELL: Ding-dong. Ding-dong, yo. (A man, looking suspiciously like the Arrow'd Guy opens the door and looks at her) THE UGLY ONE: (holding up her trick-or-treat bag) Trigger treat! ARROW'D GUY: Aren't you a little old for trick-or-treating? THE UGLY ONE: No way!! I'm a gullible three-years-old! ARROW'D GUY: You sure don't look three. THE UGLY ONE: Alright, then, I'm a gullible four-years-old! ARROW'D GUY: Well, then... (He throws at her an apple with a razor blade through it. The Ugly One tries to catch it in her bag, but it slices through the bag and then slices her in half) STRONG BAD: (voiceover) RAZORBLADE CANDY APPLE'D! THE UGLY ONE: Ow! My middlin'! ...and so it goes. |

I'll try to be more specific about the costumes I thought of for the Squad earlier: Cheerleader as Farrah Fawcett (as seen on the poster) So and So as Carol Seaver (as seen in season 1 of Growing Pains, complete with glasses) What's Her Face as Thorn Harvestar (as seen in Bone Volume 2: The Great Cow Race) The Ugly One as Gene Simmons (I don't think an explanation's necessary) |

Here now is the first part of the script for the new Halloween toon I have thought up. It's called Freakin' Halloween, based on the movie "Freaky Friday", as well as the Powerpuff Girls episode, "Criss Cross Crisis", with a bit of "The Blob" thrown in as well. As mentioned before, these are the costumes that the characters are wearing here: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And a special guest appearance by... ![]() NOTE: I use the following notation to deal with characters in other people’s bodies. When two names are separated by a slash, the first indicates the speaking voice, while the second tells whose body is being used. For example, “ ![]() ![]() (The toon starts. The sky is orange as the sun is setting before finally turning dark in night. Crickets are heard chirping. Cut to a silhouetted long shot of Bubs' Concession Stand, with a tall transmitter tower somehow set up behind it. Ratcheting sounds as well as Bubs grunting off-screen can be heard.) ![]() (Foreboding music (sounding exactly like that from "Jibblies 2") plays in the background, as the tower suddenly shakes and rattles violently; the camera then vibrates, too. A low rumble begins, then grows, followed by a flash of white light that fills the screen. Then the shaking and rumbling stops. Then the sky flashes a different color once and, as the music intensifies, an energy field radiates outward from the transmitter, while the toon title, "Freakin' Halloween", is displayed. The waves pass over the House of the Brothers Strong, which shakes briefly afterward, accompanied by a crashing sound (the credits read, "Yet another Halloween-y toon"). The same happens at the following locations, each accompanied by another piece of the credits: Homestar Runner's house ("By the exact same people"), Marzipan's house ("who always made these toons"), The Cheat's grill ("in case you don't know"), Coach Z's locker room ("which you should by now.") and the King of Town's castle ("Here-sa it-sa go-sa!"). Cut to a long shot of most of the Free Country area, with the energy field radiating over the entire view, still to the foreboding music from "Jibblies 2". After a few seconds, the emissions stop and the screen shakes with a crashing sound. The music dies down. Long silence.) ![]() (Footsteps are heard as he leaves the concession stand, but before he can be seen leaving, the camera cuts to the front door of the House of the Bros. Strong. Footsteps are heard approaching the door, on which someone knocks.) ![]() ![]() (Strong Bad reaches the door. Cut to the opposite side of the door, where Bubs is apparently waiting. The door opens and the camera then swivels over to the door knocker. But it is not Bubs - it's Coach Z, already in his Halloween costume. However, the voice is Bubs'.) ![]() ![]() ![]() (Suddenly, Bubs gasps in shock and then stammers as the camera cuts to his perspective - looking toward Homestar Runner in his costume, who speaks in Strong Bad's voice.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Strong Bad does just that. He goes to a bathroom mirror. When he realizes what has happened, he gasps and then screams his head off. He then races back toward the front door.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...and this is as far as I will go for now. Anything you can do now to help with this script would be greatly appreciated. |

What if the climax involved cheesy water-skiing like the original Freaky Friday? (which I never saw the middle of) Or what if some band like Cool Tapes performed at the end? (kinda like the 2003 Freaky Friday) |

Well, I once imagined him to be either Bumblelion (bumblebee and lion) or Moosel (moose and seal), since both appear kinda short in size. But as always, I'll leave it all up to TBC, who may or may not be aware of a fictional world where every creature is two in one. |
