First, in Decemberween Short Shorts, the line "Creepy and depressing all the time" appears to have a similar tune to the line "forget about your worries and your strife" from Bear Necessities.

Second, there was a sbemail with the intro sounding like the opening line to Back in the USSR.

I know they've been stuffed and rejected, but I wish they'd be reconsidered.

As for Homestar's serenade sounding similar to Baloo's, they do have nearly the same melody. "Forget about" is a fourth lower on "for" and "a"(before "bout"). But, otherwise, yeah. They are the same notes.

It was even discussed on the wiki talk page, though anything in the toons that sounds similar to anything tends to be discussed on the wiki talk page.

If you'd happen to know which email that was, I could consider it. Big Beatles fan here. Obviously.

I never thought of the Homestar line sounding like Baloo's though...

Wow, i never noticed that. I'd say it's likely to be a coincidence, but I will acknowledge that the rhythm is pretty much exactly the same.

If you are going to dedicate your life for matching elements of a song to different ones, and claiming them unoriginal or inferior you are going to live a miserable life. Western Music has 12 notes with 8 notes normally used in a set, often played every other one to make a cord. Combined with listening to other music they will take elements of other songs to give an effect.
