I kind of liked it. There was a different kind of "joke" in this e-mail; this is kind of what I imagine a Homsar toon being like.

...I registered with what limited free time I have to post this, gathered the links, made a decent poll, and then had to throw it all out the window when I found out that someone just posted it.

I'd get mad, but I don't really think that would be polite. Now I only have one minute to finish this up, so I guess I will.

Actual thoughts and opinions on the short when I have enough time to watch it. I'm sorry for getting a little carried away.

thought it was ok 3/5. Though the Strong Sad "hand puppet" was strange.

I've just fixed the poll. Unfortunately, changing the number of options, as I had to to agree with our normal practice of having five options, automatically resets the poll, so if you've already voted, you'll have to re-vote. Sorry. Note that this is why it's important to read up on how to make a poll before you do it. Thanks.

I didn't like it... at all... How is it not a puppet stuff?

Lets look at the facts.
Fact one: It didn't really have much of a plot.
Fact two: It just flat out made no sense! It left me goin "Huh!?!?"

2/5

It was boring. I couldn't follow it at all.

I'm not a fan of the puppets, so I give it 3 of 5. Most of the comedy was in a single line "He goed and goed until he went". :hr:

I have to agree with the rest, this was one of the least interesting toons I have seen TBC make ever. Though, I have to admit I am not a fan of either the puppets OR old-timey toons. I have to say it follows the Andy Kaufman rule of comedy, make it only funny to a few people. 2 out of 5.

I... really don't know what to say. That was... just weird. Then again, I've never really liked the Puppet Stuff, except for maybe the Biz Cas Fri shorts.

TWO'D! (And apparently, most of the other voters so far agree.)

Though the Toons Menu Description was kinda funny. "Dude, meta." I counted at least someteen lampshades dropped. Not gonna get an exact number for you, since 1) Lampshade Hanging doesn't make that much sense to non-Tropers, and 2) I don't really want to rewatch that just to count lampshades.

Hopefully the next toon is a sbemail, because the latest ones are turning out great. The Compe has a long way to go to beat the Lappy, but it's got a good start. I wonder what would happen if The Paper met Compe-per...

I just want to say that I love Shark Bubs' personality. It's like if Homsar was more coherent and obsessed with puking.

Sadly this quote above is more funny than the actual short was. :p

It wasn't terrible. I liked it, though. I was unique. Very non-sequitor.

Wow...Lots of people seem not to like this one....
I thought it was ok, though. It was a new idea. It wasn' a puppet stuff for the simple reason that it was 'Animated adventures of' puppet characters. I though it was actually going back to their storybook roots, in the plot at least.
4/5, but only because I really wanted the exact same to appear.

3/5. I thought it was pretty funny, mainly because of the simply random plot, but it just wasn't leap out the chair with a floppy disk taped to your head style funny, you know?

3/5 seems to be quite a popular rating.
And here's another one.

I must say, I do like the puppets, but this one was lacking something. Shark-Tooth Bubs was pretty cool as usual.

Author:  Killilling_Machine [ Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:31 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: The Animated Adventures of Puppet Homestar

That was weak. I like the puppet stuff in most cases, but this was completely pointless. Without having read the transcript I couldn't really understand what Homestar says, Strong Bad was rather boring, and Sharktooth Bubs' part was too big.

AT least 2/5 for the new approach...

I don't understand why this one is getting such a negative response. I was pretty pleased with it. I didn't find anything hilarious, but I liked the visual style, and the weird, nonsensical storytelling was pretty amusing. I think I actually liked it more than most other things in the last few months.

While I don't think this toon was nearly as good as the usual fare, I applaud the Brothers Chaps for getting experimental from time to time. It helps them stretch their creativity and keeps them fresh, and it's good for the audience to be pushed out of their comfort zone every once in awhile. It also makes the return of the traditional toon/sbemail fare that much sweeter.

4/5 for TBC taking a risk and exercising a little artistic license.

Dare to be random, Brothers Chaps! Dare to be random.

4/5 on account, while serving its purpose as a completely random toon, they failed to use the timeless classic nonsensical word: "Googlyborf".

"Ew!" xD
Didn't really like this, although there were funny parts, like...well just Shark Tooth Bubs in general, but I don't approve of the ani-puppet style. It was alright for the menu, and I suppose that was what it was leading to, but...mreh.

Not a fan at all. I just... don't get it. It wasn't very funny, kinda hard to follow, and I just don't like puppets. 2/5 for trying something different, just... don't do it again, or make it better.

I'm scoring it right down the middle. It was kind of cute, but not especially funny. (I did like SB's semi-sarcastic "Who would have thought being King of the Pile would be sooooooooo exciting?")

Post subject:  Re: The Animated Adventures of Puppet Homestar

It was sorta... lame, actually. A rare miss. It's like all of H*R's bad qualities rolled up into one cartoon: A plotless, purposeless non-sequitur full of stupid randomness, confusing dialogue, and tons of obscure inside jokes (and bear in mind, I liked Drive-Thru.)

Also, anyone notice that they're now updating every other Monday instead of every Monday? Less updates and the latest stuff seems to tries to be too current and edgy, and they're re-using a lot of old jokes (and not just well-timed inside references, but where they don't even belong.)

Could they finally be running out of ideas? This cartoon certainly makes me think the site's nearing its end. When I saw "dude, meta" on the toons menu, my stomach just sank... It seemed like Sbemail 200 and SBCG4AP Ep. 5 should have been the end of it (along with 20X6 level 10 and WMHIA's 10th aniversary.) They provided the closest thing H*R gets to closure and what we've seen since then has been sporadic and of dubious quality. There's been a lot of hit-and-miss since Sbemail 200 and it seemed the last of their soul went into the SBCG4AP games (and let's face it, an actual, commercial H*R video game would've made a kickass finale.)

I hope the next few episodes are of better quality, 'cause this is starting to look like what happened to Bob and George. In the end, I stopped reading that during the last few years 'cause it started to get repetitive and full of itself. I really don't want to lose interest in this the same way I did with BnG to the point where I stop coming back.
