No one's said my favorite quote yet...

"...And that's why come Shakespeare was so awesome."

"Oh I see now."

It's a great follow-up to Strong Sad's lyric rampage a couple e-mails ago and it's great character consistency.

Whoo, Phlip! Nice effort, there! You get a gold star!

Personally, out of all the characters on the site, I think Pom Pom and possibly Strong Mad are the only ones underused. Marzipan was in "garage sale" and "long pants", Coach Z was in "garage sale" and "rampage", and the Chort was in "garage sale", "rampage", and pretty much every other email. Although it makes me wonder whether TBC know that their fans want more of different characters.

I hated thae lack of easter eggs, and The Cheat! Some nice quotes, though!

The Verdict:

8.5/10

Edit: Spelled "Verdict" wrong...

Well, I think Strong Mad is "underused" for good reason. I mean, if they have the guy yelling all the time every other SBemail, it'd get old after the while. Characters like Coach Z and Bubs are more consistently used because they can be consistently funny.

I wonder if Strong Sad knows that Shakespere was the Elizibethan equevelent of TV, and littered his plays with dirty jokes. But then again, maybe that's why "Shakespere was so awesome" and yes, I'm studying his plays in school.

Look carefully. Those weren't Dangeresque, Too? sunglasses, those were from the email "the bet".

Edit:
In my opinion, it's toons like this, not strong bad emails, that should be the backbone of the Homestar Runner website.

Thank you!! I didn't really like this one either. Strong Sad and the KoT were both somewhat out of character, and I didn't laugh once.

ah but we've never seen what Strong Sad is like about his underwear before so whos to say he was out of character.

I don't know that the KoT was necessarily out of character. Put it this way: I didn't see the guy and think "why is he doing that? That's not what he does". I was more bothered when he was eating deodorant (that's just too ludicrous) than when he was hanging out with Pom Pom

As for Strong Sad, he was kinda weird this time round I guess. My biggest quibble there is that he seemed unusually gullible over the whole auction thing - quite apart from the fact that he should know his underwear wouldn't have left the house whether it was being auctioned online or not

You know what I really liked about this cartoon? The fact that Homestar had a cameo in Strong Bad's favourite TV show. I've always liked that in Free Country stuff like that happens - Homestar hosts a TV gameshow, or Strong Bad's "crazy cartoon" idea becomes nationally syndicated for example - and nobody bats an eyelid

Well, he knows that Strong Bad would have probably have auctioned off his underwear. Maybe it has happened in the past before, and that's why Strong Sad believed Strong Bad.

yeah, maybe you're right about the Pom Pom-KoT thing. it seems a bit random that they were just THERE eating ice creams. But then again, TBC are pretty random sometimes.

i thought it was a good thing that Coach Z wasn't in this one. He was in garage sale, and he was kinda weird in that. He's a mum? and he was in rampage as well, and his laughing was kinda weird.

i agree with Strong Mad being overused. Excess shouting =bad.
i do however think Bubs is extremely funny. his voice gets me every time. so excess bubs=good to an extent. Too much Bubs=bad.

Actually, too much anything=bad.

As Strong Bad always says:

"Too much of a good thing is an awesome thing, and too much of an awesome thing is... Really really dumb. And bad.

Having just been reading "Strong Sad's Lament", I'm wondering how this underpants fixation squares up with Strong Sad's other comment that "I kinda don't wear clothes" from 08.19.04

Maybe Strong Sad just.. collects underwear. That he doesn't necessarily wear. For some reason.

But it is indeed gullible for him to find the blue ones at home, when they'd not be anywhere else even if they were up for auction. Theoretically he could put them on in celebration for cancelling the auction, but I don't think there ever was one.
