Still on the topic of Strong Sad's voice: Have you ever noticed how much its changed. I mean, not that the other's haven't either, I just found his one of the most drastic... Him and Strong Bad...

His voice seems to have raised about an octave since A Jorb Well Done.

Noticed that, did you? It's pretty easy to see if you view the Strong Sad video done by the talented guy on the Wiki who I have unfortunately forgotten namewise. It's true, it has gone up an octave. Perhaps they thought it to be not wimpy enough as a low voice. Think about it. If he still had a low voice and was being hit with a bat by Strong Bad. Wouldn't work, would it?

Oh, and while we're on the subject, does anyone else think the voice contrast between the Strongs is a bit...well...BIG? I mean, Strong Bad has a Tex-Mex accent, and Strong Sad sounds a bit generic American. Whassupwidat?

I'm sorry, but that's the stupidest rumor I've ever heard.

All attempts at pinning down Strong Bad's accent are a waste of time.

If you ask me, all that was Mexican in Strong Bad's accent has disappeared over the years. This is just coming from a Brit, but nowadays his accent sounds pretty much indistinguishable from a regular American accent to me.

In the early ones, Strong Sad had a really whiny voice. Now he doesnt seem to be that depressed anymore.

Ironic, because I can tell the difference between all sorts of British accents, and I can tell you, Strong Bad's accent ain't American. Sure, his pronunciation is, but his accent still has a bit of a Mexican flavor to it, and was meant to right from the start (seeing as he's wearing a Mexican wrestling mask and all). It's just that voices evolve over time. I've got a cartoony voice that I do that when I started doing it (back when I was 6) it sounded like a rabid Donald Duck, but now sounds nothing like it, but it's still the same character.

(Note: it's not a cartoon, it's something me and my siblings play called Handlings where our hands are people and they get into all sorts of antics. We've developed an entire society over the past 12 years with them and they're great fun to play with)

I dunno if you guys could try it.. I did... anyway have you recorded Strong Sad's voice and make it fast? It sounds just a LITTLE bit like Alvin from the Chipmunks. You know... just a thought and stuff...

Anyone sounds like a chipmunk if you speed up their voice.

Strong Bad definately has a Mexican flair. I mean, I LIVE in Texas, and I'm around people speaking spanish a lot, and Strong Bad definately is Mexicano. But you're right, it's not as much as it used to be, especially if you watch the really old cartoons.

The other day I watched Marshmallow's Last Stand, and around that time I also rewatched some of the really early e-mails (including "some kinda robot"), and Strong Bad's voice is definitely very different now -- not that this was disputed. But it did originally have quite a Mexican flavor to it, though probably not authentic of course. Since his current voice is still heavily influenced by his older voice, the Mexican flavor is still there, just much more subtle.

I agree that pinning down the accent is a waste of time, though. On the whole it is a generic accent but spoken with a particularly rough, gravelly voice that's upper mid-range in pitch but "low" in timbre (if you know what I mean).
