Hmm, not bad. A few things though, you don't have to warn midstory that it's slash. A mention at the start of the story and in the description is more than enough. Also, they could probably stand to feel a bit more like 1-Up and Stinkoman. But other than that it was pretty good.

I dunno. I'll admit Homestar's not the best boyfriend in the world, but I don't think she's denying her feelings for Coach Z. She sees him as the creepy clingy type.

I'm really not a slash fan myself. At least of Homestar Runner. My Shipping goggles are cracked and dirty from years of sitting on the shelf. Plus, I read enough cannon Shoujo Ai to satisfy my needs. I don't need to think of what it would be like to have two of the H*R characters hook up.

Slash and shipping has never bothered me. Unless it was something really creepy, like pedophilia or something. Then you've crossed the line. Unless it's a crack pairing and was made just for the lulz.

Hey speaking of Bubs/Coach Z (We weren't? Oh, sorry.), did anyone see that one part insSbcg4ap where Coach Z wants to dance with Bubs? It's near the end of the game so if you plan on playing don't watch it.

And since I'm new to the forum and the topic I'd just like to say that slash is the reason I'm a Homestarrunner fan. I'd seen a strongbad cartoon loooooong before I got into it, who would have thunk a deviantart search of "otp" would get me to actually look at the website?

Oh good, more "I don't like shipping so nobody should, and no shipper could have possibly seen fan club". I loved fan club. It's my favourite email.

Although I still only slash because it's funny, I've come to realise that I would ship Homestar and Strong Bad if Strong Bad was a girl. I'm not being homophobic, I just can't imagine Strong Bad dating another guy. He seems too straight.

So now I'm thinking deeply about what Strong Bad would be like if he'd been born female. Of course.

Shwoo: Fan club is my favorite Email, period. (well, maybe besides the webcomics one...) It made me love Strong Sad even more than I already did. And I'll admit that even though I'm not a fan of Strong Bad/Homestar, SB's 'Freudian slips' (cutting naked Homestar into a bush ftw) are hilarious.

...Also, there's just something about imagining Coach Z as Lucy and Bubs as Ricky that cracks me up so. much.

That is a true but pretty brief description of a Mary Sue. Wikipedia has a wonderfully in-depth if you want to learn more. It even has a history of the the term.

(Sorry, I love this kind of stuff)

Ooh, shipping thread! Neat.

Anyhoo, I never really understood shipping in the Homestar Runner fandom (particularly SB/HR) until I played SBCG4AP. I wasn't even playing it with slash goggles on, but a few moments made me go "Wait, what?!" Like Strong Bad prank calling himself as Homestar and saying he was an attractive lady with a hot tub. Then, when unintentionally cut a hedge into the shape of a naked Homestar. And when he claimed that he frequently dreams of being in stuck in an elevator with milkmaid Homestar (albiet that he was fairly disgusted with this fact).

Point is, I'm now fairly convinced that Strong Bad harbors a severely repressed crush toward Homestar, and occasionally slips up with things he does or says. I'm still not entirely sure I ship the two, per se, but I certainly understand why someone would, now.

Also, thanks to the random mass guess on TVtropes that Strong Sad is secretly Marzipan's real boyfriend and that Homestar is just a cover, I also sort of ship Strong Sad/Marzipan. It's just kind of cute, in its way.

More than anything, though, I ship Strong Sad/Homestar. It's just... so incredibly adorable for some reason. I'm even considering writing a fic about Homestar following Strong Sad around, thinking he's Marzipan (a la Answering Machine 16.2). Knowing me, though, it'll probably never get done... or started. Heh.

I ship it because it's fun, and I do so adore one-sided, never-really-gonna-happen crushes. There's no one who watches the toons that can say that Homestar's totally straight with, well, a straight face. It's impossible. I don't know if he's actually gay so much as he's too dumb to know/care about the difference between males and females. Which suits me just fine.

I also love making Strong Bad's brain explode. That's just ... fun times.

Can't say I ship anything else besides Strong Bad/Homestar and Homestar/Marzipan (dysfunctional, non-working relationships = fun). I'm not a slasher, I just have the worst taste in OTPs ever. Hrrm. I'm pretty open-minded to everything but incest though. Incest = squicky. I think anyone who actually has siblings can attest to that.

In any case, I agree with your assessment about Homestar not really knowing/caring about the difference between males and females. I mean, we're talking about someone who thought he was a pregnant woman for a moment, so it's not really a stretch to think that he doesn't get that females and males are different. Besides, he's clearly mistaken females... female... for a male before, and also males for females.
