In the email montage, it's predicted that Strong Bad will replace The Paper with an inkjet printer in email 173. Oddly enough, he did just that. Some say it was just age. Others say it was The Paper's time to go. Well, I say it was none other than SABOTAGE.

Let me explain: Who could predict such an amazing feat of wonder? How did this mysterious person know when The Paper would have a breakdown? I think it was.....

New Paper.

And here's why this works: As seen in retirment, electronics have somewhat of an attachment to Strong Bad. New Paper thought The Paper would go away some time around email 41. Guess what? He didn't. So, using none other than jinxing/subliminal messages, New Paper not only predicted The Paper's breakdown. He caused it.

So.... what do you think?

Yeah, no. This "theory" is just ridiculous and the product of overthinking something tiny. Sometimes that's good, but usually you end up with loads of crap like this.

Also, New Paper is NOT better.

I agree, it's too soon to tell.
Over the years, we've come to know and love "the paper"...and it's hard to see it go...but that IS the natural progression of things. I for one am happy that they went ahead and fulfilled the "prophecy", which was most likely an afterthought, and not really anything they were even concerned with at the time.

I suppose one could conceive theories about there being a much larger master plan in the minds of TBC in the wake of this, but c'mon.
It's really not wasting time on thinking of those sorts of things, regardless whether or not you have a life.

I think the new paper's gonna be fine. But he's gonna have to prove himself!

Ditto. You can't compare something that's appeared in 172 emails with something that's appeared in 1 email. And no, I don't want to know exactly how many emails The Paper was in. (Sorry. I had just sit an exam when I wrote this.)

About your master plan thing, I do beleive that that is a posibility, mostly because of the whole DNA evidence thing. All that started off as was a bunch of small segments in some SBemails, then it became a running gag, and then it became a full fledged toon! If thats posible then who knows? I mean, the old compy and tandy came back as ghosts in the "lappy-napped" thing, perhaps the paper is planning a come back! Lets hope so...

New Paper will never replace the void in my heart left by Ole Papes.

However, I'm inclined to agree with Strong Bad: that butt was off to a promising start. In time, perhaps I will grow fond of New Paper, but The Paper shall always be my one and only "striped friend".

I think that The Paper's untimely demise was met due to the Drive Thru Whale. Strong Bad took his invisible buisness elsewhere, and clearly the whale is magic, so the whale went back in time, placed a prophecy so it seemed to have been there all along, then when the time was right, snuck in the house in the middle of the night, and forced our old friend The Paper to listen to Achy Breaky Heart on repeat, serverely damaging it, then the whale hypnotized The Paper into claiming it was natural.

Preeee-ow.

I liked the old The Paper best. I don't blame Strong Bad for being distraught over the loss of his friend. I always like The Paper's "Preeeeow" noise than New Paper's "Heunh-heownh-heunh-heownh-vvvvvt-eangt-clonkadonk" noise. The Paper's noise is shorter, too.
