Señor Cardgage was real, Senor Cardgage wasn't until Strong Bad made him up. That's what I think, anyway.

In one of the easter eggs at the end of the email, it's stated explicitly that Strong Bad made all the Original Bubs crap up, so no. No he is not real.

As real as he could be in a completely imaginary cartoon, anyhoo.

There are many mysteries within the Homestar Runner universe. People thought Senor Cardgage wasn't real, and now he's one of the secondary characters! I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of original Bubs...

Basically, Creepy Comb-over Strong Bad is fake, but was inspired by Senor Cardgage, who is real. Original bubs, just like CCOSB, is a figment of Strong Bad's imagination.

I think he's unreal, but how does Homestar even remember that Bubs could see him from over there?

My theory is that it was such an embarassment when Original Bubs left that all of the characters (save SB and Homestar) are trying to put him in the back of their minds and forget him. It's a conspiracy!

But seriously, folks: I think he IS real. I think Strong Bad and Homestar are they only two that will admit that he's real 'casue the rest of them are afraid that Bubs will pummel them if they say otherwise. (Homestar is too stupid to be intimidated. You try and intimidate the guy and he just doesn't get it.)

Because that's a much more entertaining notion to entertain.

However, I would like to get Homsar's take on all this. Not because it would explain anything, just because it's always fun trying to figure out what Homsar means when he says anything.

I say he's fake, you have Marzipan who's pretty unbiased and objective stating so, as well as Bubs (who of course is probably indisposed). As with Homestar's memory, we can't forget that SB's imagination sometimes becomes reality, like when he somehow made Strong Sad talk in a different voice in Radio ("don't you ever make me do that again!")

I doubt Original Bubs would be capable of pummeling Pom Pom or Strong Mad. At least Strong Mad has lower body muscles.

Original Bubs is VERY real.
He's also Strong Bad's dad and the person that taught Strong Bad to type with boxing gloves on his hands. The guy in the email wasn't him, though. The guy in the email was just a memory in a flashback.
The real "Original Bubs" is Gary Busey.
