| Post subject: | Strong Bad's accent |
In the early days, Strong Bad had a quasi-Hispanic accent, sort of to compliment the lucha libre mask he has for a head. But over time, his accent gradually disappeared, finally disappearing for good in "The Best Decemberween Ever". By then (and the way he still speaks now), it evolved into a much more relaxed voice that goes up and down in tone, unlike the previous ones which seemed to be a forced low-as-possible tone. What I want to know is, why did the accent disappear? Granted, I like his voice better now, but still I must know: why did the Bros. Chaps remove it? Was due to some stereotyping or something? |

All voices in cartoons change gradually over time. I think part of the reason is character development - he's a lot different than he was in the earlier toons, and his voice changed to fit his personality - but part of it is also just unintentional - Matt (or Mike, whoever does the voices) subconsciously kept using less and less of his accent until it disappeared completely. |

Mike holds the mic while Matt does the act. Strong Bad still pronounces his short "u"s and "i"s as long ones, so it hasn't completely disappeared. |

It's because Strong Bad has grown more streetwise and charming, of course. Didn't you see Accent? I like his current accent better than his old one. I don't know why. It's just better. |

No, I didn't. That's a DVD exclusive and I don't have the DVDs. I probably wouldn't even know anything at all about the DVDs had I not seen the Wiki about the website. |

Because it is easier to do and it doesn't sound as stupid. |

I like his new "accent" better than the old one, personally. But I too wondered where it disappeared to. I don't have the DVDs, but I saw Accent because they show it in one of their interviews (that's posted online somewhere). I'll try to find it. Alright, it was the Georgia Tech interview in April 2007. http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Georgia ... 6_Apr_2007 There are links on the bottom saying where you can download or watch it - they show the email Accent in full during the interview. xD Also, here's the wiki page for Accent: http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Accent Hope I helped! Enjoy the sbemail. P.S. I accidentally posted this as a new thread about 5 minutes ago. Is there any way to delort it? |

Well, I saw the wiki for "Accent". As I said before, I would never have known about the DVDs had I not known of the Wiki pages. |

I do agree about that fact. I watched some of the old SpongeBob cartoons and heard how their voices sound different from today's. One of my 7th grade teachers back from 2007 said that SpongeBob back then sounded like Bugs Bunny for some reason. I'd stick to Strong Bad's current accent because it sounds more like himself.
