Jibblies 2; Homestar & Marzipan.

How many times have they split anyway? Their relationship always seems at it's worst durring Halloween.

IMO, I don't think they like eachother enough to date at all. They're like a couple that dates for image; him being the best athlete, her being the only girl. I can see Marzipan charting every guy in town & picking Homestar as "least annoying/least pathetic of the bunch." I even thought about the concept of Strong Bad having a fake-hate crush on Marzipan (like in Hey Arnold), but now I'm back to thinking he finds her genuinely annoying. The only guys who seem to like Marzipan are weird older men like Z & Bubs, possibly Strong Sad (may only be interested in being friends). The Cheat seems to be the most likely candidate for Marzipan, but she probably regards him to be more like a pet than a person.

Any thoughts on what goes through her hippie/preppy mind?

Marzipan doesn't seem like the type to date someone just because she feels she needs to be dating someone. Although maybe she's dating Homestar just so the other characters will stop hitting on her.

If that's the case, it's clearly not working. Maybe she should try threats. That might not stop Coach Z, though.

Marzipan and Homestar do care about each other; he's just immature. I don't blame her for constantly being exasperated, though I admit it was crazy to lock him in the closet or three weeks.

Still, they'll always make up. Besides what other choices does she realistically have? I mean, the only other potentially normal suitor is Pom-Pom and he'd never date his best friend's girl.

After I last posted in this thread, I found this in the Wild Mass Guessing section of the TV Tropes wiki:

This is true. Although I LOVE it when Marzipan and The Cheat are together! I think they're really cute as boyfriend/girlfriend!!!:3

A couple of problems with these ideas:
1. Homestar is probably the "most annoying of the bunch", and Marzipan gets very irritated by him lots of times.
2. Marzipan does date The Cheat, so probably does not view him more as a pet. But she says it doesn't work out because he has been de-clawed.
So I conclude that they really do like each other, but have an on/off relationship (as mentioned in Marzipan's character video).
