Probably kind of like that time in "colouring" when he said "OK".

You've got a good point. One of the reasons characters like The Cheat and Pom Pom work is that you have to interpret what they're probably saying, which adds humor and interest. Other successful characters in this model are R2-D2 and Chewbacca. For a counterexample, I think Jar Jar Binks would have been vastly improved if you couldn't understand what he was saying.

Well, part of this question came from this one Pokemon show called "Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon" (or something along those lines), in which we see some Pokemon actually talking! These had actually been humans who had somehow been transformed. And Pikachu in particular (to whom The Cheat, of course, bears more than a passing resemblance) speaks not in a squeaky voice, but rather in a surprisingly deep teenage voice. And that's basically what sparked my interest here.

OT: Do you know if this episode was dubbed by 4kids The cruellest and most ruthless corporation known to man or by Pokemon USA?

Considering that this version of the show came out around 2006 or 7, that would be Pokemon USA.

I think he'd sound like Gonzo from the Muppet Babies.

That would work, I suppose, except his voice would have to be less gravelly and maybe one or two octaves lower.

Yeah, every cartoon's got to have at least one character that talks in a way that everyone in the show can understand them but the people watching couldn't. And then, after that character says something, another character has to reply with "That's right!" or "Good idea!" or something, and then repeat what the character said.

An example from Homestarrunner.com:

THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}
STRONG BAD: You said it, The Cheat. Once we get our hands on Bubs' fundraiser candy bars, our troubles will be over!

Meh, probobly like Fidgert from The Radio Adventures Of Dr.Floyd. It's a family podcast that is actually pretty funny sometimes. If you listen to Fidgert in an episode, you will see the resembelence.

I think he'd have a really funny, high-pitched Brooklyn accent. :D That would suit his diabolical personality perfectly. :)

I kind of agree, though I would keep watching anyway. The Cheat is important as an incomperehensable character, so he really wouldn't be as funny if he could talk. Same as if the Poopsmith, Pom Pom or Graw Mad could talk: it would just ruin the effect they have on people.
I guess if he could talk, he might sound scandinavian, just for identity reasons as "Ilko Skevueld" the scandinavian miner.

Yeah, him too, I guess. But sometimes he does say things that fit under the circumstances, for example:I do what I'm told" or "don't count on it, monster man" he doesn't get names right, and mostly it is better that he can't talk straight, but I think it's a mor important factor in the cheat.

Yes, I see what you're saying about Jar Jar. When the film came out (I was a bit younger) I loved him, but now I find him V. Annoying.
If he didn't speak English, it would be cool.
And I think he'd have an accent a bit like one of Fat Tony's henchmen (You know, the one with the New Yorker accent?) in the Simpsons except with a high pitched voice.

I think you are all missing the point. He CAN talk. He doesn't speak English (or any other language I can recognize), but he does speak. :)

I thought it was Mike Chapman.

But seriously, The Cheat must be able to do more voices than anyone else can think.

Yeah, but they have stated that in-universe The Cheat does all the voices for his own cartoons.

And "Hey, Homestar, would you like 147 glasses of melonade?" And of course, "The King of Town is so lame."

But there have been times when The Cheat spoke that there were translation subtitles below.

He'd sound like either Piplup or Pikachu (both from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon).

Do you mean the Mystery Dungeon dub, (which Piplup wasn't in, but they might of made a new one for all I know) or the actual ones from the anime?

Or those lame ingame ones?
