Post subject:	Who Should Be the Next Main Character?
I got to thinking the other day about main characters. We haven't had a new one in about forever, but with good reason; not many non-main characters have made a large amount of appearances. However, two stuck out to me. Senor Cardgage was created a while ago, and since then has probably made more physical appearances than any other minor character. Additionally, he I don't consider him much of an alternate Strong Bad, so I think it would make more sense for him to get MC status than, say, Old-Timey Strong Bad. The Announcer, however, has been around even longer, and even though he doesn't make many physical appearances, his voice sure is used a lot. He has been around since the very beginning and has appeared the most out of all of the original characters who aren't major, and he seems to definitely be original enough. So, who do you think deserves the next character video? PS: This is not for who you want to be a main character, it's who you think deserves the rank. I don't want to see any "The Umpire is funny and cool and should be a main character" because, currently, he wouldn't make sense, considering he's only had 1 toon appearance. So, yeah, none o' that.

Homeschool winner because we need a REAL nerd (I mean like is smart but is not a true nerd) and would beat him up alot and maybe he would be like homestar's little bro (or cousin) and looks up to him so I voted other (don't say "but he has shown up enough"...so who cares homsar had one apperance and was booted up to Main Character right after his second apperance so yeah....

The Announcer would be much more deserving of main charecter status if he did anythying more than announce (unlike some narrators who dictate what happens and argue with the charecters). What would his main page video look like, anyway? A picture of The Field with a voiceover?

I feel that not only does the Announcer deserve the role, but that he would also make a very good main character. I think that a fancy-pants-type character would round out the cast nicely, and he fits the bill exactly. (Plus, then we might get an Announcer smiley on the forum, and that would be fantastic!) Senor Cardgage shouldn't be a main character simply because we already have a nonsense-talking guy for a main character.

Plus, Homeschool's appeared 3 times. Although, I wouldn't mind if he had one speaking appearance. I feel his voice would be a kind of nerdy voice, like Steve Urkel.

I have tried to think of his voice sort of like a scratchy high pitched (but soft)nerdy voice. heh wait ummm chapeen's voice high pitched loud energetic voice(I dont think chapeen deserved it I just wanted to think of her voice )

That's what I'm saying; basing this poll off of what cartoons have been released I believe shows that Homeschool isn't as deserving as other characters. People like The Announcer, Senor, and even The Knight all have better chances than he does right now.

I think incorporating Cardgage more would be quite interesting. He's easily one of my favorites, and, alongside Homsar, one of the more awkward of the group, as well. That, or bring in Da Huuuuudge. (If I don't have the right amount of u's, you can just deal with it )

In my opinion, a new main character is not needed. We have a pretty all-star cast right now, and nothing seems to be lacking. Although, I think adding a new one would add a positive twist to the cartoons, and potentially the whole website. It could also do the opposite by ruining/decreasing quality of some of the cartoons. So, if there were to be a new main character, he would have to fit in perfectly. This is why I don't agree with some of the suggested ideas. To be honest, I couldn't see anybody from 'alternate universe' making the cut. I think that e-mail showed how they would or wouldn't work as main characters, and I believe that is about as close as any of them are going to get. Most of them live in other worlds anyway, so it wouldn't work at all. Having said that, Cardgage has had many appearances and seems to reside in Free Country U.S.A., rather than in his own world, (like how Stinkoman has 20X6, Old-Timey Homestar has 1936, etc.,) so I could see him having potential. But I don't think it is likely. I only see his character worth having around for the occasional chuckle, but Homsar made it, so what do I know? I couldn't see The Announcer making it as one either. I definitely think he could be incorporated into more cartoons, but I don't see him having a spot. I think it would be weird seeing him dressing up for Halloween, or buying something at Bubs', or even just hanging out with Homestar. The only way I could see it happen is if he had his own episodic cartoon, similar to sbemails. He is an Announcer, so he could do something like a video blog, or giving a news report; but I'm not even sure that would make him a main character, and I still think him being one would be awkward. Can you imagine listing them off as, "Strong Bad, Bubs, Marzipan, The Announcer"? He's already great at what he does, and I think giving him anything more might ruin his character. I would like him to appear in more cartoons, as he is hilarious and one of my favorites, but like Cardgage, I think his only purpose is the occasional chuckle. Characters that I do think could make it are the Strongest Man trio; Mr. Bland (might be too much of a Strong Sad rip-off), Sen~or (who I could see being Coach Z-like) and The Robot (who I think would be too Strong Mad-like.) So I'm not even sure those would be very good choices. Or maybe The Sad Kids, but they are also Strong Sad-like. All of the other characters I could think of are either from a different world, or are not 'real.' i.e. Teen Girl Squad, Marshie But there is a way I think it could happen. I may be going out on a limb here, but I think if they were to appoint a new main character, TBC would have to make a completely new character. Yup. Make him/her have a random, hilarious appearance in a toon, and then slowly start featuring him/her in more cartoons until finally appointing him a character video. The hard part would be finding his character, his role in the cartoons. You can't just make a character to have a new one. I've seen some places that say that Strong Mad needs a love interest, to further his "big brother" role. I don't know how good of an idea that would be, but I'm too tired to try to come up with ideas, so at least I gave you something. So yes, Cardgage and The Announcer are great characters. Yes, they are funny. Yes, they have many appearances. No, I don't think they should be main characters, and I can't envision them doing more than they already do. That is all.

Isn't he dead anyway? Matt Chapman said in a DVD bonus "Great, Now we have to kill off Bubs. Just like Homeschool Winner." Then a skull resembling his appeared in 'buried.' So, I'd say his chances are second to none, along with Champeen, The Hurricane, and Preshy and Rafferdy.

Evidenced by Marzipan's Answering Machine when Homsar called Marzipan to 'thank [her] for the flowers she sent [him] while [he] was in the hospital'; his second appearance on the site if I'm not mistaken.

You know, I'm not sure if we need any new characters, but there are a few I'd like to see more often. For example, "The Dancing Brothers". They have extreme potential to be annoying, like the were to Strong Bad in Folky, but I can just imagine all the places they could pop up. Concert Tour in Strong Badia, jammin' with Marzipan, etc. Of the two given, I chose Senor Cardgage. I don't know if he deserves it or not, but he cracks me up. "Dump tell no Mandy..."

I think we have enough Main Characters... I'm not sure why, but no existing character deserves MC status in my opinion. Maybe if they made a completely new character, like they did with Homsar... but I doubt it.
