I am really annoyed by that. Why do it? I mean any one who seen homestar know how he talks and would automatically in his/her head make it into how he talks. To me it just it harder to read. And homestar doesn't always say W instead of R. He can say the word are thats proof. P.S look in Homestar Talker |

I agree with this and was going to say it myself if it kept up. In cases where w's are substituted for r's, I don't mind so much, except when the wowd is wendewed unweadable. Otherwise, just write it normally. |

I don't mind as long as they do it properly. I mean, remember in the sbemail "helium" when the Cheat floats past him and he goes "Hey, Marzipan, look at that ugly bird"? Well, if you type like he talks you'd say "Hey Marzipan, check out that ugly bord." But some people just substitute all Rs for Ws and would say "Hey, Mawzipan, check out that ugly biwd." But that's not how he says it. |

"Bord" is harder to read, though (but then it's not the easiest thing to understand when he says it)...I'd draw the line about there, I mean, that'd be OK but anything more difficult probably should be written more normally. And it shouldn't be overdone. Also I think Homestar substitutes w's for L's sometimes (much less often as r's), but I've seen some false mutations there (for instance, in the intro to "The House that Gave Sucky Treats", the transcript had him say, "Oh, hewwo!", but he definitely says "Oh, hello", so I changed it). "Hewwo" would be easy to read, though, if that had in fact been what he said. - Kef |

Anyways..... If you're enough of a Homestar regular, you should be able to easily imagine his voice reading out words spelled just as they are. So really who needs to type it that way anyways? (Whoa DaChort, could you please resize your icon? It's a little big, man!) |

Yeah, I'm really tired of people typing like they don't know how to type. Typing W's instead of R's isn't what Homestar does, when he was deleting one of the E-mails in #50, he types R always! Not w in place of r! I'm just tired of people writing W's 'stead of R's. |

I only do it when I quote, and I quote a lot. But reading this makes me realize how stupid it is. Thank you. |

Ugh. It really annoys me. Don't like it. I mean, if we know it's a Homestar line, we'll just say it in our heads that way anyway, no need to type it and make it more confusing. |

To get it out of the way: This topic is from almost five years ago. Okay, moving on. This really annoys me, and I'm not sure why. But it makes it harder to read, for very little gain. If you know who Homestar Runner is, you know how he talks. What annoys me more is when the person writing it out gets it wrong: "You'we the best giwwfwiend I ever had. Wet's have a mawwiage. Wet's have a mawwiage wicense." He is capable of pronouncing the letter l, and "giwwfwiend" is an example of what I was talking about with the readability. And then you get people who don't seem to be trying at all, and give the world things like "twape" for "type." I have seen this happen. It's best just to write it out normally if you're unsure, I think. |

I actually don't mind too much. I just don't see the point. Also, writing your username in Homestar's speech impediment doesn't annoy me at all. It's just when he's quoted or in fanfiction. |

Hmm. I agree and disagree. I think that it is okay if you don't go overboard and that its readable e.g. Sewiously, this is fwickin' awesome! However, if it goes overboard, e.g. Hewwo, I am the Homestaw Wunnew and I like to eat wats!, then it is just annoying and unreadable. |

Maybe I've been going to the wrong threads, but I've barely noticed this until now. It annoys me, just I didn't realise how big a problem it was. It does seem kinda stupid to try to WRITE in the form of a SPEECH impediment though. I mean, he only speaks like that, he doesn't think like "Oh Hewwo. I'm Homestaw Wunnow!" That wouldn't make any sense. And to do it as poorly as some people do... |

Homestar does not pronounce L's like W's. He pronounces them like Y's. Just like me when I was 2. |
