We know its in the US, in some place called Free Country. And according to Strong Bad, tropical breezes flow there. (Which might be the reason why he never wears a shirt.

Does that mean he's supposed to live somewhere in Florida? Or maybe Hawaii?

Actually Hawaii might not be such an odd choice... Pom Pom coming from some sort of island somewhere. Maybe Pom Island is actually close by?

Also, is California another valid choice or don't the tropical breezes reach there?

Mmm.. Florida might be what first come to mind, but I think I'm going to assume its on Hawaii, I don't think we ever saw anything to contradict that.

That is, unless someone has compelling evidence otherwise... Come to think of it.. Maybe Pom Island is in the carribean. Then Florida makes more sense...

What do you all think?

I think Strongbadia is an island with mountains all around it in the middle of the ocean. But nobody has seen it because Trogdor and the sheep eating dragon eat the people who see it. Also Homestar and all the other people, I wouldn't call them human... So there you go!

I dunno if tropical breezes really flow there. Remember, this is the guy who thought a dumple was a dumpling, and would declare a tire to be the sole citizen of a country (when clearly there are a stop sign and cinderblock, too!)

Now, I don't really know my states, per se... but...
It really couldn't be on the north-eastern coast, as the layout of Free Country USA is mostly grass. Except if it was in somewhere like Vermont or Maine. However, then it wouldn't be warm enough for suntans or to go around with no shirt.
There is a possibility that it might be somewhere like Montana, being close to the west coast, and not as developed as some states with tall buildings. (People of Montana, please don't flame me. I love Montana. It's got a cool shape to it.) Oregon is also a possibility. However, you need to leave room for the accents, such as Strong Bad's Mexican accent, or Marzi's southern accent. You immediately think of Texas, but Texas is too developed. Therefore, Florida might seem to be a good choice, with Pom Island being somewhere in the Carribean (Right next to Monkey Island, ha har!). But then, we move back to the fact that you need open areas of grass. Therefore, if I combine the ideas of warm climate + accents + open areas of grass, I conclude that the best choice for the Strongbadia/Free Country would be Utah. Come to think of it...an Amish type of remnant in the community might be the reason for a King of Town.
Well...that's from a mathematical point of view. Any other possibilities?

The country is called "Free Country USA". It's on a continent which is shaped like the United States, but as well as Free Country USA it also has the countries of Prance, Dortugal and Potamia.

Free Country USA is to the north-east of the continent, so it's unlikely that tropical breezes DO blow there. Strong Bad only walks around topless to show off his... er... "muscular" torso.

Strongbadia is an old field that Bubs sold to Strong Bad, who has apparently declared it an independent country to Free Country USA. But Strong Bad still lives in Free Country USA, as does The Cheat and the other Brothers Strong (I actually think that Strong Mad, Bad and Sad all still live with their parents - that'd explain why Strong Bad spends all his time in da basement).

Don't forget that they experience seasons. The Decemberween stuff and Main Page 16 have snow. There's heat enough for suntans at some point, too.

I always assumed it was somewhere around Georgia. I really have no idea. The Suntan/burn part as the snowing part kind of contradict each other because the only places I've been where it snows that much are too cold to get a think sunburn in.

Any of my other Great White Northern counterparts want to take this one, or shall I?

Not to sound "know it all" ish, but I promise you guys - it is possible to live in a place where it snows A LOT in the winter and you can burn in the summer. I lived there. It was called Saskatchewan...and I bet lots of places - in Canada AND the :usa: - experience the same phenomena!

Weird. I've never been in a place that it snows like it does in H*R and yet I can get a sunburn. And let me tell you, I do burn. In under an hour. In 85+ degrees.

Uh... A sunburn is a radiation burn to the skin produced usually by overexposure to the ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. A similar burn can be produced by overexposure to other sources of UV, such as tanning lamps and welding arcs.

Temperature has nothing to do with it. Nor does distance from the equator.

Once again, brought to you by Wikipedia.

Yep. That's why you put sunscreen on your face when you go skiing on a clear day, even in the coldest depths of January.

Thanks for the back up folks...I guess I didn't make myself real clear - I didn't mean you would have hot and cold weather at the same time (but as Tom and IJ pointed out, you can sunburn on cold days) but Free Country doesn't have snow and heat at the same time either - just look at any toon! I just meant that a climate with varying weather patterns is possible....you can have snow one month and a heatwave the next.

You all should come to Utah sometime. This afternoon it was in the 90's, but if you look at our license plates we have "the greatest snow on earth". Last winter there was a time when the snow was 3-4 feet deep. (Joey can vouch for that I bet).

Hate to be pedantic, but it's "phenomenon". "Phenomena" is plural.

Okay, I was exaggerating in my last post about getting burned. I don't really know what I was thinkinkg Come to think of it, I now say it's located where I've been thinking all along: Right here in Georgia.

Reasons: "Where the tropical breezes blow" is just a line made up by Strong Bad, most likely. I mean, he's not excactly the picture of honesty. Also, there are a good deal of Hispanics here in Georgia. Even though it doesn't snow much down here, every once in a blue moon, it snows like it did in The Decemberween cartoon. We only see snow once, so it's possible that it only snowed once. And most importantly, this is where TBC live! That's enough for me.

I Think FCUSA and Strong Badia are someplace near iowa. I think the star in the intro video is suposed to mean where the live.

Free Country USA is an independent country on a world independent of Earth. It's a great settings for stories, as climate can be manipulated to create situations. But, seriously, it's a cartoon, people.

Its some littered-up field behind the dumpsters in Free-Country, USA! And as for where FC is located- it's an imiaginary State/City somewhere inhabited by wrestlers and strange, talking animals. Nuff said!

They don't live in Hawaii or California. Watch "The Best Decemberween Ever" for proof.

reat? do you mean real? Are you saying the shows are real or the places are real?

Anyway, Free County isn't supposed to be any where, though it's probably in Georgia.

It's probably somewhere near where TBC live.... wherever that is. Someone may have posted this already. (I haven't read all the posts before this.)

It couldn't be anywhere in the USA, just because of Dortugal and Prance. It's a made up land, made for a cartoon, and so, the reason that they have snow and sun and all of that, is because it makes it funnier.
