Or is Strong Bad's voice evolving again?

I mean, back in the day, he was more angry and guttural (his "OHHH MAN!!!!1" is a good example of such), and had a quasi-Mexican accent. Then he became more of like ... a trucker.

Now it sounds like he's going through puberty (witness Lady-ing). He's getting more high pitched whenever he talks, even to the point of squeaking at parts. At first I thought it was just when he got surprised/startled/excited, but he's doing this almost all the time now ...

Yes, I think so too. All the characters' voices change a little over time.

That's true, but it seems Strong Bad's changes the most. Homestar and Strong Sad have had the strongest changes in voice, I've found--but Homestar's is very gradual and hasn't changed nearly as much as Strong Bad's ...

Strong Sad's voice made a significant change, but beyond that it's the same as it has been for ... a while.

Coach Z and Bubs had slight changes (I think Coach Z's pitch came up a little, and he's a little more of a fast-talker, but he's still the same old "EoroROJOroorhjghuahrrr!!1" he ever was ... ).

I do wonder, however, what Strong Bad will end up sounding like if the trend continues. D: Will he have squeaking matches with the Cheat?

Strong Bad changes the most because he's on scrteen the most, it only makes sense. Bubs occasionmally ueses a higher pitch for some sentences nowadays.

Yeah, ever since I heard him say "I think it's high time you consult your MLA handbook!" I've felt his voice is becoming more high-pitched. Not exactly trucker, but more of the puberty thing.

And I agree with Ju Ju. Matt's probably just experimenting with SB's voice, like Mike is probably experimenting with new facial expressions for the character.

Remember, this is flash toon. Anything can change for any reason at all, without warning.

Sadly, I disagree. I think that Strong Bad has the same voice. He only has done one major change in his voice.

Everyone else's voice has also changed slightly, but I don't think Strong Bad is undergoing a change right now.

I'd have to agree with Ace on this one. Certainly the characters' voices have all developed over time, but as of right now I can't notice any SB change from back when he shed the Hispanic tones.

To be frank, in recent times I didn't notice a change in Strong Bad's voice. Sure a contrast to emails 1-10 but not to 100-120. Just my two bits. If anyone seems to have changed.....

:coachz: I'm just me! Can't you see? I'm just a friendly bumblebee!
Seriously, he sounded REALLY different in that one- at least from what I'm used to.

Yes, I noticed that with Strong Bad, too. Also, has anyone noticed HOmsar's voice changes? In 2001 toons he had extra syllables in words (Marzipa-yan, Sta-rong Bay-ad), in 2002 he spoke in a slightly muffled tone that was slower and deeper than the current voice, and since then he's been talking faster. :homsar:

That's what I said. In 2002 his voice was muffled, slow and deep, but it's changed since then and he's been speaking in the same way for three years.

In my opinion Homsar has two distinct phases. First is just the old time, when they didn't consider him to be a recurring character, speaking like the email Homsar. Then he was drawn into his current proportions, and his voice seems to have stayed since hten.

If anyone's changed in voice it's Strong Sad. He's no longer a flat depressed voice anymore. Goes along with him acquiring more characterization.

Yeah, SS seems to be speaking more quickly than before, and with more character, esp in Folky Tale. I've not really heard much of a difference in SB's voice.

I haven't noticed Strongbad's change in voice since the early Strongbad emails. But, I have noticed everyone else's change in tone.

I think it's more because Matt had a hard time doing the voice and he just tweaked it to make it easier. It is definitely a little different in Cool Things and Folky Tale, but I hadn't really noticed before that.

Coach Z is almost accent-less at points in Folky Tale, especially the end.

SB still sounds just like he has for years to me, I don't notice anything.

Meh, high-pitched voice are more likable, or maybe Matt's just had a cold or something, and then liked the way the higher voice sounded, so kept it that way.

I was surprised, however, when in "Strong Bad Evolution", they counted the design from "montage" and beyond as different from the ones before that point. I always considered the current designs sort of set in stone by now, that they were done experimenting and were down to business. I suppose they have to change things up a bit, though, so things don't get too stale. I have noticed Strong Sad is looking fatter now, too... (Look at him sitting down in Bug in M<outh Disease!)

Yes, I noticed that Strong Sad was fatter, too, sometime when I was watching A Folky Talr. I don't remmeber when I noticed it, but I nthink it was when he fell down at the end.
