In one of the interviews the Chapman Bros. said they were in middle school. I would believe that. I mean they all aren't very mature. Strong Bad pulls pranks and I don't think many adults do pranks. Post your thoughts. |

There are a few things wrong with that. First off, we've seen Strong Bad working in an office a few times and we know teens don't do that. The way Strong Bad's place looks is more like a bachlor's pad then a home. Also we've seen Strong Bad smoking but I had people in my Jr High smoke so that doesn't disprove it.
However there are also things that would prove that they are in Jr high so it's hard to say. All I can for sure say is that maturity means nothing. Im almost 25 and I'm not that mature either. |

No, we've seen Strong Bad's character, Dangeresque, sitting at a desk upon which sits an ashtray and cigarette. |

That is true! In Dangeresque it was probably for looks since he was supposed to be a detective. Of course KOT, Bubs and Coach Z aren't in Jr. High. But the rest seem like they do. |

Anybody heard that song "Circles" that sings? It says "I've failed college algebra again"....maybe he's a college-type person!! Or maybe it's just a college type song...the way he keeps going on about the "skinny blonde girl"......... ?

That was supposed to be for a college frat party, so it makes sense that it would mention college. Me, I always thought they were older, like maybe their early 20s, but immature. |

They both went to college for art design type stuff..So they've gotta be in their 20's. Besides..I don't think a 12 year old would have that good knowledge of Flash to make the site as good as it is. |

In middle school??? I don't think so. It's plainly obvious that Coach Z, Bubs and the Poopsmith are over 40 and that the KoT and Homsar are over 60. Homestar and Marzipan have both owned their own homes since 2000 so they're at least 22 now. Pom Pom'd be the same age as Homestar. Strong Mad, Bad and Sad all live in the one house (personally I think they still live with their parents), but I suspect that Strang Mad and Strong Bad are older than Homestar. The Cheat is only about 7 years old, but since he's a The Cheat he doesn't go to school. So nope, not in middle school. |

How do you figure Homsar is over 60? If he's a song from the 60's, he can't be over 50. Maybe not even over 40. |

a) Unless you've seen the deed, you have no way of knowing this. They could just as well be renting. b) Where do you get "at least 22" from? A friend of mine bought a house as soon as he graduated from high school. |

Exactly. They were 18 when they graduated from high school in 2000 and bought their houses, and since four years have passed they'd be 22. Duh. |

a) Don't "duh" the mods. Duh. b) What gives you the impression that the characters age or have aged at all? I don't see any evidence. I'm guessing that five years from now, they're not gonna be 27 with kids and receding hairlines. |

Mabye SB is one of the really rare Late Middle-Late High school social smokers, if the rest of the group is doing it(like the cheat,or coach Z) then he'll take a cig but dosn't smoke enough to get addicted. Personally i think that Coach Z is on something much stronger than your average cigagrette but that's not to be discussed here. |

ok, so what about the coach....do we know how old he is? (this has nothing to do with the coach being a smoker) |

I think it's a cartoon and the creators can do whatever they want to suit their needs for a particular episode. If Strong Bad needs to look young, they make him short and have a smaller head. If Coach Z needs to look older, they give him a 'fro. In other places, they show the passage of time by using a different drawing style. Like InterruptorJones said before: If Strong Bad is playing Dangeresque in a movie, that character might have a lit cigarette in an ashtray on his desk, but that doesn't mean that Strong Bad smokes. All we know is that The Cheat has a smoking problem. But he did resolve to stop. And you can't blame him for cheating. You know, because he's The Cheat. |

Wouldn't he have a bigger head, proportionally speaking? |

InterruptorJones wrote: Tom wrote: If Strong Bad needs to look young, they make him short and have a smaller head. Wouldn't he have a bigger head, proportionally speaking? You know Jones, I thought you might be right, but after making a few calculations, I was able to draw a different conclusion: First, let's have a look at the two:
Code: Little Strong Bad Pink line: 82px Blue line: 84px Red line: 166px Little Strong Bad head to total height ratio: 82/166 = .4940 Little Strong Bad body to total height ratio: 84/166 = .5060 Okay, so with Little Strong Bad, we can see that his body is slightly bigger than his head. Code: Strong Bad
Pink line: 161px Blue line: 135px Red line: 297px Strong Bad head to total height ratio: 161/297 = .5421 Strong Bad body to total height ratio: 135/297= .4545 Now for Strong Bad, we can see that his head is a bit bigger than his body. Thus, Little Strong Bad has a smaller head and larger body proportionally to when compared to Strong Bad. So no, he doesn't have a larger head, proportionally speaking. |

Wait a minute doesen't Coach Z hint that he likes Marzipan in some of the answering machine messages? If some of your age guesses were true this would make coach Z even more weird...ha -The KOT Doo Hoo Hoo

Strong Mad: 20-25 Strong Sad: 18-23 (He's SB'S little brother, keep that in mind) Pom-Pom: 20-30 Coach Z: 40-70 (I'm just an Old man!) King Of Town: 60-80 Homsar: EXACTLY the same as Homestar Poopsmith: No Idea. Bubs: 30-50 |

I've read some of your post and have used words like "whippersnappers" or "young'ens" so I sort of assumed you were older. But you're not! I guess it's just the words you used.... |

Well, I am older than a lot of the people on the forum (no offense)....I felt really old a while ago in the Word Association Thread when I referenced to Slimer and the dude didn't know I was talking about Ghostbusters! I felt like an old fogey! Like, older than old...like, dirt's great-grandmother old! Back on topic...I think the H*R characters are probably of varying age, as most people have put....with the KOT being the oldest (I don't know why everyone thinks Homsar's so old, just cause he says weird stuff! ) and the Cheat being the youngest (I've always thought of him as a pet of Strong Bad's, so we may have to calculate his age in Cheat Years! )

Bubs: 30-50 I've always thought of Coach Z and Bubs as contemporaries. I reckon they're both in their mid 30s. |
