What patterns do you see in Coach Z's accent? He usually has an "R" after vowels. :coachz:

Well, for one thing, he's Midwestern. That explains a lot.

I have to disagree. We don't sound *anything* like Coach Z. Not really.

Minnewegian, maybe?

It's been said that Coach Z has a midwestern/Fargo type accent. It's the same voice Matt used to do when he was in college.

It's true that most midwesterners don't sound exactly like the Coach, but there are settle similarities. The Midwestern accent is slightly palatal in resonance and the short vowels are stressed hard (especially the short 'a'). It's a rather harsh dialect but we midwesterners make up for it with soft hearts. ^^ The thing about Coach Z is that his accent is exercised to the nth degree, it's completely exaggerated for purposes of humor.

Ah! Well then, that fits Coach Z to a T! ...a Z. ...a W?

Well, last I checked, his wikientry had a section on his accent that noted that he tends to add "r" after vowels, and pronounce ee and ah and...maybe one more, I forget, as oh. Like, Cheat becomes Chort. Yeah. Although apparently he can pronounce "Trick or Treat" correctly, if pressed. ;)

And he has said both "The Chort" and "The Cheat" in the same sentence in mascot, but he says it like he's referring to different people... :-|

His accent sorta reminds me of William H. Macy's character in Fargo, only really really exaggerated.
