Strong Bad and Brak = separated at birth?

Last night my best friend, who hasn't seen very much of H*R himself - just a few of the classic SBEmails from the DVDs - noticed me wearing my Brak shirt. He actually thought it was Strong Bad at first until I told him it was Brak from Space Ghost and The Brak Show, both of which I think he's more familiar with. I've noticed a bit of resemblance between the two before, but I don't think I've seen anyone point it out. Thoughts?

I've seen the similarities before. I never thought of any real connection between the creators or the characters though.

Hmm.. they are similar.. But I'm not sure if they're enough to have been based on the other. I think it's a coincedence.

Yeah, I do think it's coincidental, but the resemblance is striking to me. I wouldn't be surprised if Space Ghost turned out to be one of those influences TBC had on their mind when developing H*R characters in the first place. I also find it interesting that both started out as villain types but ended up becoming more awkward "so cool, you don't even know they're cool" sort of characters.

I kinda see the resemblence; enough to see what you're getting at. However, there's one big difference between them--Strong Bad is pretty smart, whereas Brak... weeeell... not so much.

There is a slight resemblence, but like what the other people said, it's just a coincidence.

Yep, the characters really aren't close to each other in personality either. Homestar is more like Brak than SB in my humblest opinion.

yeah, i agree... brak is more homestar-ish in personality... and zorak, he would be the one i'd connect with strong bad. but the physical resemblance is interesting.

Heh, I didn't mean to imply there were that many common traits between SB and Brak personality-wise to suggest TBC were anywhere near overly influenced (if in fact they ever were at all) by Space Ghost. I just thought their striking similarity appearance was a fun, interesting little coincidence, and I thought the couple similarities I noticed dealing with where they started and ended up were worth mentioning.

As for how I ended up with that Brak shirt, I'll have to ask my brother where he got it from originally. I don't really remember.

No one said SB belonged to Hanna Barbera, what do you mean by that? And how can you say they don't look alike at all? They both have red heads with black accents, green eyes(that are also similar in shape), and red gloves.

Also I think brak is awesome and so is Sb but similarities? Dont think there are any but appearence.

I actually have a friend who asked the same question! I've always thought that he looked like the Red Power Ranger, but he looks a lot like Brak, too. Some people think he looks like Viewtiful Joe, but that's just ridiculous.

look-a-like doesn't mean anything. strong bad, strong mad and strong sad don't look anything like each other and the long-lost brother might even be homestar and nobody would know. coincidence.

Hmm. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. SB was made to be a villain, and Brak WAS a rather cool villain back on the old Space Ghost show (before it was made into a talkshow type thing)

I don't there's a real connection, however. Maybe untintentional inspiration...
