I'm starting to think that Sickly Sam is actually the Old-Timey version of Mr. Bland rather than Strong Sad as we've all assumed...

These 2 characters have more of a resemblence between eachother than the "Old-Timey Strong Sad" from main page 10. Do you think this idea is plausable?

Actually, I think Sickly Sam is the old timey version of Strong Sad. They Both have the flip, and both are abused. And Sam's voice is similars to Strong Sad's.

I agree with ramrod, even though Sickly Sam does look like Mr.Bland, he really isn't Mr.Bland, he is the Old Timey version of Strong Sad.

I think that Sickly Sam is the undead version of 1936 Strong Sad.

ARGUMENTS FOR MY THEORY (Sickly Sam is undead Strong Sad
Notice that on the old-timey main page, Strong Sad is shot out of a cannon. Wouldn't this kill him? Sickly Sam is just a skeleton in a Potate sack, save some arms (which are fat and grey like Strong Sad's arms, not white and thin like Mr. Bland's). From here on, for the sake of carpal tunnel prevention, I will refer to Strong Sad as "SS", and Mr. Bland as "MB".

Notice that Sickly Sam seems to be rather fat, as is SS; MB seems to be much skinnier than SS. Strong Sad and Sickly Sam have the same number of letters and both start with S's. And of course, he is very depressed...


ARGUMENTS AGAINST MY THEORY (Sickly Sam is Mr. Bland)

Sickly Sam's flip sticks out significantly more than modern-day SS's flip. MB's flip sticks out as well. Sickly Sam has legs, as does MB, as does not SS.


ARGUMENTS AGAINST BOTH THEORIES (Sickly Sam is not a 1936 character variation; he is a different character)

Sickly Sam has foot bones. Neither characters have proper feet; MB has Homestar-esque shoe shaped feet and SS has soolnds. His flip sticks out much more than SS's and MB's.

There is a lot of evidence that he is 1936 Undead Strong Sad, and significantly less that he is Mr. Bland or a different character.

Quote this line from the wiki page for Sickly Sam:

"Visually, he bears little resemblance to his current self, and his personality is even more down-trodden than it is now."

Some of the old-timey characters do have differences between modern versions with stuff like arms and stuff:

HSR -> THSR

- THSR looks a bit more like one of the older Homestar designs
- THSR has regular feet (as he wears shoes)

Pom Pom -> Fat Dudley

- Has regular Arms and Legs

when i look at old timey strong sad and mr.bland, i see the swirl on top of their heads but although we haven't heard mr.bland talk old timey strong sad looks more depressing, mr.bland doesn't look depressing.

Sickly sam is old-timey Strong sad. He does look like Mr. Bland al lot.But I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Strong Sad.

Mr. Bland looks like Strong Sad. So I think that Mr. Bland looking like Sickly Sam is just a coincidence. As far as our knowledge and the H*R Wiki's knowledge goes, Sickly Sam is the 1936 version of Srong Sad. But don't worry, there's still some pieces of the puzzle that need to be put in place. Methinks TBC will reveal the truth to this phenomenon some time down the crazy road. Just be patient yo!

Yeah, I think they based the design for Strong Sad partly on Mr. Bland. "They" being the Brothers Chaps, obviously.

Sickly Sam is definately Strong Sad. They both have the initials S.S. They both are really depressed. They have similar voices. Mr. Bland also seems to have really long arms. Both SSs have much shorter arms. Sickly Sam also dosn't have thumbs but Mr. Bland does.

Yeah I remember hereing something like that somewhere. I'm sure Strong Sad's look was based off Mr Bland's.

I think Sickly Sam could be the Old-Timey versions of both Mr. Bland AND Strong Sad, mostly the latter.

I think its Strong Sad. Sickly is too fat to be Mr. Bland.

Sickly Sam and Strong Sad are one and the same. Just at two different time periods.

I think, other than the slight simularities between their apperence, they're demeanor is almost exaclty the same. Just a depressing downer, who nobody likes.

Notice The Homestar Runner called Sickly Sam 'Our worst friend ever'.

Well, if you look at today's Strong Sad, not many people like him either. Marzipan even told him once that he wasn't invited to their Decemberween party. The others constantly kind of pick on him. Strong Bad the most. But then again, there's always sibling rivalry.

Yeah, I think that Sickly Sam is the Old-Timy Strong Sad based on these facts alone.

I mean, other characters have many variations.

Look at Strong Bad and the Sbemail 'Alternate Universe'. He has tons of variations of himself. Some old, some new.
