But he only covered quote pyramids not...something I like to call 'Quote Towers'.

Y'know, quotes stacked on top of others?

I can't find it now, but it was something The Noid was doing for some time I think.

Just a suggestion to change the rules, it may not mean much, but at least all techinical terms will be covered.

Lol, Buhubs is blaming something on me and pointing out a loophole without even pointing anything out at all.

I don't get what you mean by quote towers. If you mean "stacked on top of each other" (i.e the thing where the size of the text increases), that's just a joke and doesn' do anything.

Well what if someone pushed the envelope? ;)

If that happened the mods would delete.

General thing to do is to only do six of them maximum anyways.

It says "such as quote pyramids." That doesn't rule out any other excessively large things. Quote pyramids are listed specifically because they're the most common problem and they can actually break the forum's tables.

Now that "quote tower" is against the rules simply because it has no meaning. Please don't do that, COLA.

Agree'd. They serve no real purpose. For my sake, they're spam, and will be deleted.

That was my first thought when I read the first post. The rule is fine as it is. When interpreting the rules, users and mods alike must apply common sense. It's really not too much to ask for. ;)

Also, there are no loopholes in the system anyway. Rule 1 covers everything; the rest is just for clarification.

Actually I use them to point out offensive things/gasp in horror as somebody has said Hell out of R&P. It makes sense sorta.

I'm sure you can point those out in a different way.

I was specifically talking about COLA's there. I personally don't consider ones that actually make sense, like yours, Noid, to be spam. COLA's was done for the sake of doing it.

Openly flaunting violations of the rules is not a good idea.

Says the guy who wants to be admin.

P.S. "such as" are the almighty governing words there. They do not mean "is". They just show examples. Use common sense to compare them. For example, quote towers are like quote pyramids, because they take up unnecessary space. It's just that quote towers don't necessarily break browsers.

I don't think "Quote Towers" are spam if someone has something relevant to say after posting it.

Admins aren't supposed to be uptight rule makers who label everything thats funny or out of the ordinary as spam, bigotry, or against the rules. They're supposed to be kind and friendly dudes who take part in the discussion, act like every other user, and doesn't flaunt the fact that they are an admin and that "Their word is law".

The day we see an admin here do a BRACE FOR IMPACT!!! post is the day things start to change for the better.

You're being very silly. COLA is an admin.

I only did one quote tower in the FOOTBALL thread. I think it was worthy of QTing... I didn't bold it or make the text bigger to save the page, but still... If they keep it small, then I think its okay.

Thank God our admins aren't like that.

You've described our admins to a T.

Thanks.

If you do that, ok, that's fine. But if you do it like that COLA did above here, then yes, that's spam.
