I say upwards of 4 months. Every month is way too often, after the first few it'll just get old and nobody will care. With four or higher it's more "special". [/same thing I said in the other thread]

Well, you know guys, there's really more important things than Mod Group names.

I voted 4 months. I don't really see the sense in changing them frequently, or even making a point to change them on a regular basis.

As it is, in a month or three, everyone will forget all about changing the names and not care anyway.

But I do propose a compromise: once the poll is over, we take the mean number of months people say they wanted, and go with it. Right now, that mean number looks to be between 2 and 3 months.

What I wonder is why the non-mods seem to care more about this than the mods do.

Actually, I say three. That way we get all four options per year, and then maintain a sort of specialness to the names. Changing of the guard, or something like that.

Wow, I was just researching that for a paper this morning. Quite the coincidence.

There are four names and 12 months. Every 3 months, I guess. Not as long as a third of the year, but not as short as a month.

Right now, it looks as if the mean is 2.31 months. Unless the "other" voters want to specify a time period (or already have and I missed it).

To be fair, let's not count anything over one year. Just so someone can't just say, "A million jillion years" and throw off the entire equation.

Also, bear in mind, this is a representational form of government, not a true democracy. In the end, whatever decision is made, those who actually change the names will have to approve it.
