Will we ever have the "Portal" feature?

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong type of portal, but maybe he means something like this?

Yeah, basically a forum portal is like a mainpage for messages boards, showing stuff like the newest posts, announcements, and maybe a few links, such as the rules or the mainpage.

There's already a link you can click to view the newest posts. Site-wide announcements are available under the user control panel as well as at the top of every forum. The rules are among those announcements. There's also a FAQ for technical issues. The links to all of this stuff are found at the top of every page.

Sorry, I should have just explained it to begin with, but I thought an Admin would know what I'm talking about. Anyway here is an example. It's pretty much a table of contents page with a lot of other bells and whistles.
