I propose we change it back.

The wordfilter for pfargtl should be "funk". Or is that too closely telegraphing what the actual word is? Either way, I think it would be funny. Plus it would go with the whole P-Funk thing.

I kind of like the idea of a randomizer between things like funk, duck, fruit, freaking eh, pfargtl, etc. Sadly, I doubt PHPBB3 supports that.

I could make it so that any post with a censored word is replaced with "I wipe myself."



If phpBB3 supports bbcode in censors, I could make it work.
Use the "rotator" code, make a bunch of words into small png files, insert them into the rotator and then do a censor that's something like

See? this is what happens when rednecks use computers. If there's a limitation, we find a workaround.
I'm not sure the word censor will let you replace something with bbcode.

You could try a custom BBCode and then some JavaScript, and then it wouldn't need an image, but it would print text... I think it'd work. Then, you just set the word censor to change the bad word into the BBCode tag.

For whatever reason, I don't think bbcode inserted by the word filter will be recognized as bbcode.

I'll see what I can do, though.

In talking to some others, it seems that the "posting.php" program that takes your post processes it as "check for BBcode", "check for censored words", "post to board".

If only there were a way (a simple way) to modify that code... I don't have that access.

Nah. I think we're onto a good idea here.

Implementation IS possible, provided I have some way to see the code and perhaps give it a slight tweak (something I'm not totally comfortable with on a "live" board).
