Anyways, the reason Forum Games and A & C aren't full of spam is because there's no post count. A & C was a lot spammier back when the post count did increment.
Arts and Crafts never did have a post count that incremented (or, if there was one, it was for a
very brief time). I remember when it was first made, people were asking why it didn't add posts to your post count.
I honestly do not believe that people would abuse posting privileges in Arts and Crafts if the posts were counted. The main reason why Arts and Crafts didn't originally have post count incremented was because of people possibly saying things such as "That was awesome!", and nothing more.
However, Arts and Crafts has a lot of posts nowadays that are more than that. Sure, there are posts like the above in there, but that can be applied to any of the forums; Off Subject has many spam posts/random posts that have nothing to do with the topic at hand, and replies to Homestar Runner related things in the upper forums can be as simple as the basic "That was awesome!" post. Think of different works of art on the A&C forum at the same level as the Homestar Runner stuff: they are pieces of work that will probably get the same types of replies by users.
There are also the contribution threads on the Arts and Crafts, including Wiki News, The Daily News Times, Banner and Avatar Force, and Interactive Adventure. Since the forum's topics were gutted out a week ago, it'll take some time for others like these to reappear.
In other words: spam, small replies that do not contribute to topics, and decent-length replies happen all around the Forum, post count or not. People post replies in other forums that are simply a picture or face emoticon, which is what some replies are like in the Arts and Crafts for new updates on comics or other things. If it were down to my decision, I'd say to just let every one of the forums here increment post counts for most of Zeno's reasons on the last page:

Also, if we look at it logically:
If post count doesn't matter, then nobody loses anything by counting posts.
[s]If post count does matter, then all posts should count in order to help rebuild the shattered pieces of our former post counts.[/s] (DS_Kid edit: I don't really agree with this reason, as I don't feel that our post counts require rebuilding)
Also also, it could possibly fix that recurring bug whereby when a thread is completely deleted from a non-count forum, it still subtracts from post count.
To me, post count is important, but not because it shows authority or any nonsense like that, but because it shows how much I have done on the forum in terms of contributions. Yes, there are users who have a lot of spammy posts that take up a major portion of their post count, but that is their issue. I'd like to see how much activity has been done by say, for instance, The Noid since I last came onto the Forum, and assume that since he's a pretty good user, that his posts will mostly be on-topic and worthy of counting (wow, that sounded like it needs approval by Sun God Stu

).
Forum Games could also be eligible for incremented post counts, as there are numerous, popular topics there that have a decent conversation going (Rate Avatar/Sig; Operation: Storyteller, though I haven't viewed this topic too often; Describe the User Above You in One Post; etc.). However, there are also a lot more topics in that forum that do not have very long, or contributing, replies.
In the end, I'd say show em' all or hide em' all (or leave them the same

).
That's my Quater - Two Nickels - Dime - Three Pennies.
